What happens if I can't get up to 3 years of evidence for student finance...? Watch

They say on the application to provide 3 years of evidence that I've supported myself, but I haven't got all that evidence because all my papers/forms have either been thrown away because I didn't need them, or I can't find them. I have been on/off on Job seekers for the past year, then before that I was on employment and support allowance, then before that I was working. But I haven't got 3 years worth of document/evidence stashed away. I mean it's been 3 years! I wouldn't have a clue where all that stuff is. I never thought I would be needing it, so that's why I haven't bothered keeping stored away safely.
What can I do...? If I can't supply the evidence, will I not get finance? Because I read on the site that if I cannot provide evidence it may effect the speed of my application. Arrgghh! I'm really stressed out and frustrated!
