teacher student relationships

My english teacher is 26 and im 18 so its not really that big of an age gap.
I never really fancied him until he started being VERY casual with me and my friend.
It started off with a bit of banter making fun of each other etc
then on his birthday i made him a card and he gave me a really awkward one armed hug.
He's always coming over to my desk and sitting on it and asking casual questions about friends, work, films, drinking and he tells me all sorts about his life. He has a girlfriend but he thinks they'll break up soon because its not working out, he lives in a lil flat with another young teacher etc
anyways i wasnt sure if he was this casual with other people so i asked around and hes not... i still havnt ruled out that maybe he just likes me but last friday he invited me to a little party hes throwing while the other teachers on holiday.
Does he fancy me?

THIS WAS TWO MONTHES AGO NOW:

its more like:
In england if your in sixth form and aged 18 can it really be illegal to fall in love with a teacher?
I mean teachers buy you drinks in bars, invite class' round their houses for extra classes (work and bbq for example) but these things are mostly female staff.

If i happened to have a huge crush on an english teacher only a few years older than me (im 18 hes 26) would it really be so bad? He likes me back too he's always flirting and we have this banter thing going on but whenever he hugs hugs more or touches me he goes 'oops illegal' and i go 'thank god' but is it really illegal for him to touch me. Also we've now had some discussions about it after he kissed me in wetherspoons and yeah any laws out there?

I heard him talking to a friend saying hes going to a club in town tonight and me and my friends already have plans going there so would it be alright if we did something tonight?

I'm no expert on law, so I can't tell you 100%, but as far I know it would be illegal for him to sleep with you and it wouldn't go down too well with any senior authority at school or parents of kids at the school.

This is because while he is teaching you, he is in a position of trust, and shouldn't be 'taking advantage of you' even though you're 18. Furthermore, teachers are there to teach, not to try it on with pupils, and they shouldn't cause any distractions which may hinder a student's education.

By the way, these are words I've heard from other people, personally I don't think there's much wrong with it as you're 18. As long as you keep a relationship outside of school, it should be ok in my opinion.

But hey, I don't make the laws

If your over 18 and don't act inappropriately in school surely it doesnt matter... the other students teachers wont find out :/

i've looked on my school website and on council website etc but i can't find anything that says he'll get into trouble if we're caught

I think it is a bad idea and his behaviour is unaceptable he should not invite students to his party.

And he may take advantage of you but di what you want.x
It isn't illegal just VERY unprofessional.

That is all.

Sounds like a bit of a player.
He's abusing his power, he could go to prison, I wouldn't act upon it

Not that I watch that rubbish or anything...

age of consent is 16 or 18 if its with someone in a position of trust such as a doctor or teacher.
your 18 so no not illegal.
but he will almost certainly loose his job if someone finds out
Ewww, English?

Just keep it friendly with him until you leave school, in a few months or next year or whatever. Then I think it would be fine as he's not teaching you anymore.

waterloo road all over again.... :P

*minutes silence to appreciate jonah's BEAUTY* sigh.....

Yh I saw this on Hollyoaks the teacher lost her job
No idea why I was watching that ****
That **** is just bad news, don't do it. Not even just because he's your teacher, which is ****ed. He also has a girlfriend, and you're 18 which means you'll be going away to school soon. This can only end in heart break, at the very least.

I think it's frowned upon.
I believe that it illegal under section 22 ofthe sexual offences act 2003

its not like waterloo road and we havnt had sex just kissed...
he doesn't have a girlfriend anymore the 1st bit is something i posted a while back
it doesn't feel wrong i don't like hiding it from my friends
although it's not against the law, as you are 18, it is against his contract as a teacher..so basically he shouldn't be doing this, and if found out, will lose his job...

I think the best thing to do is wait until the summer, when I assume you will be finished with 6th form (it's only 3 months away), also this gives him time t ACTUALLY split up with his gf, if he's still with someone (even though it's not working out), you would be a fool to start going out with him, as you may end up his bit on the side...

Once he's single, and no longer teaching you, then a realtionship is fine, but until then, you BOTH are putting yourselves in a vulnerable position...

The dude is a 26 year old teacher, he should know this already. If he ignores all f the above (which im 99% positive he is aware of), I don't think that says much about his character tbh.
