Change Mind on Shouting Friends Drinks?? watch

Keep anon cause I think friends are on TSR.

Well as you know its school holidays, and I wanted to do something with 2 of my best friends. I was talking on FB with one of them, and I offered him and one other dude to come around to my suburb and I would shout them drinks at the local coffee shop.

However, in doing so I slightly changed my mind. I don't have any part time job, I am saving up for so much so I am not exactly rich to be honest.

Would it be (socially) acceptable if I somehow changed my mind on shouting the drinks? Or would it be safer to say instead something like: "Oh, nevermind lets go to the movies"?

How would you change the plan if you were in my shoes?

+ rep to best and most serious answerer.

    Thanks.

Unless if they forget, it would look a bit bad if you said to them you're not going to anymore. How much are drinks anyway?

Just say to them that you can't afford it...explain that when you have the cash to spare you'll gladly buy them coffee etc.

See if they'd be up for paying for themselves, if not suggest movies or something.

Probably wouldn't shout at their drinks. They'll think its wierd, and it won't achieve much.

What do you mean by "shouting"?

If you offered to pay and then they decided to come I don't see how you can get out of it in a socially acceptable manner unless you cancel the whole thing.

Just say "this new movie is out, let's go watch that instead"

Shouting drinks means buying them in, I suppose? Why would you even offer to do that when you know your disposable money supply is low?
