Hey I really need some help for Elvis's Twin Sister, I have hardly any annotations!
Can anyone explain why Duffy included "Pascha nostrum immolatus est" please?
Any other annotations for this poem will be greatly appreciated

it's gregorian chanting about the sacrifice of jesus: "our lamb is sacrificed" It's supposed to link with the death of elvis and how he sacrificed himself. The chant also links to the simple nature of elvis's songs. There's obviously a lot of juxtaposition of the simple life of a nun and the life of a rock star and lots of links towards elvis but how a simple life may be better. This is cleverly presented with uses of song names like "Heartbreak Hotel" The stracture is even, six stanzas of 5 lines, almost like a song... which also gets across the link towards elvis and his life. Basically a poem about how she relates herself to elvis but how she's "alive and well" but ofcourse he died a tragic death.

A very brief set of notes but hopefully it'll get you started look into it deeply, find links and try and come up with original ideas.. gd luck!

Thanks! I've managed to make a few links like how Duffy might've used Madonna cos of her song "like a virgin" and the poem is about a nun
and what do you mean by Elvis sacrificed himself?

Just the idea of death i think... maybe the public caused him stress and so he ate himself to death while jesus also was killed by the public...
