Can the Police find me through the internet?

This is all hypothetical. Say I did something, or was involved in something (hypothetically speaking). Something bad. Would the police or the media be able to find me?
The only information I have online is on my facebook account, and even then I don't have any personal information on there (not even my home town or school).

Would they be able to locate me somehow?

This is all hypothetical.

Yes they can, they can track you from your IP address.
I remember seeing a story on the news about someone who trolled over facebook and they actually got his number.
Plus they could easily track you from Facebook.

Facebook has your name on it, right? That'd be a pretty big clue for them...

yes they can, very easily in fact.

They track you through your IP address, they could use this very thread as evidence in court. No point asking mods to delete it now. They can even record what you're doing on your computer right now.

and it's quite obvious that you've done something illegal online. or else you wouldn't be asking this silly question

I'm only suspicious because you used the word 'hypothetical' about 50 times.

This is all hypothetical.

The only information I have on the internet (to my knowledge) is my first name and my email address and about 10 pictures. If they can locate me through my ISP or my IP, would they be allowed to find out my exact location?

Would it be illegal of them to try and get my information through something like UCAS?

This is all hypothetical.
