Colds and exams

typical................my exams start on thursday next week so I only have 3 weekdays of revision left and guess what.............I've got a cold which will have totally kicked in by wednesday......................just what i need.............especially when one of my stations in my first exam is communiction skills..............i'm sure my patients will really want to hear by croaky voice and see me blowing my nose every 5 seconds....................

so hard to revise when your head feels like someone has crammed it with cotton wool and you can't keep your eyes open cos they'r watering so much........

These cold and flu tablets better kick in quick!
I had flu on the same day as my chemistry AS exam (in the summer as well!!! Don't know how that works).

Just drink lemsip, they're the best. Gets rid of stuffy nose and headaches
I had hayfever as well on that same day, so I was pretty messed up!
Nice use of the dots. Anyways, It should wear off after awhile, and surely one day of revision wont matter that much if you have 3 weeks to revise..
he said three weekdays.

Ahh good luck! I had mild flu during my GCSE's, -was really bad, especially as one of worst days of having a cold etc was the day of maths exam- it was so hard to concentrate. But don't worry you'll get though, just drink loads of water, rest alot go to bed early etc, and try and revise whenever you can - just take breaks regularly. Honey and squeezed lemon in warm-hot water is good - possibly better than lemsip?

Try Sudafed, as some people find it's better than paracetamol. I found it was great, but only for about an hour. But even then it could help if they're short exams?

Urggh I get terrible hayfever for 2 months each year so I know how you feel. Really you need a proper decongestant, which hopefully will be in the flu tablets, but Sudafed is pretty good too.

Two pracs of half an hour and one written paper of around 2 hours............I'm hoping its worn off by thurs.............I just hate revising when I'm ill as I find it hard enough to concentrate at th best of times!

well, excuse me, how the hell was i supposed to know she was at university.
and even at that, she's still pussying about over a fricking cold. "lets mark her down because her speaking is poorer due to an unavoidable illness with no known instant cure!"...erm, i doubt it as long as she's polite and clear.

Of course I know its not the end of the world................I wasn't trying to imply that my life was over coz I have a cold, gimme some credit. It was more of a rant cos I hate feeling rough.................especially when I have work to do. And anyway, would you like to be my patient in my OSCE on thursday when I'm coughing and spluttering all over you in order to locate your McBurney's point? I doubt it..................there is such a thing as infection control..............

anyway, thanks to everyone else

hope you feel better soon jackieS and good luck with your exams!

lol i think im even worse than you...i absolutely hate having a cold...im such a drama queen too which makes it worse! hehe
I know exactly how u feel. Ive got the flu or a really bad cold at the mo and i got exams and 2 uni interviews next week :frown:
There's a difference between flu and what is really just a bad cold. Influenza completely knocks you for 6 and can be life threatening. "Oh I've got a bad headache and I'm vomiting a lot" isn't flu, it's a bad cold!

Anyway...

I used to get tonsilitus almost exactly every 3 months, and got it about 2 weeks before my A Level exams. I spent 4 days unable to eat anything, and vomitting up almost anything I drank (often even water!). I was close to incapacitated for 5 days or so, and would lose a stone in weight! Not very nice just before your exams!

I had my tonsils removed 3 weeks before coming to university because I couldn't afford to come to uni, where we only have 8 week terms and lose a week every term!

I had glandular fever + a chest infection during my A2 exams :frown: . Try having a hot drink before your exam to sort your croakey voice out...that's what I did just before my French A2 speaking and it did help! Good luck x x x x
