Hey

I have an essay to due

'What were the aims of the Religious Settlement?'

Seems to be quite easy but it isn't, any advice?

Thanks in advance

you need to mention the things that Elizabeth did in the early part of her reign that indicated her personal religious preference, eg: walking out of communion on Christmas Day when the host was raised.

then you should give the 3 views on what the aims were:
the contempory/feminist view
the neale view
the jones view

then you should assess which view you think is the correct one and therefore the correct aims.

also mention the bill she tried to pass through parliament (cant remeber name) that got rejected by the house of lords and then had to be rewritten into 2 separate bills...these are an indication of the aims!
