Just look at last year's league tables for state schools' A-level results last year. Top Greater London state school picks are:
The Henrietta Barnett School (Girls only)
Queen Elizabeth's School Barnet (Boys only)
Tiffin Girls' School
The Latymer School
Tiffin School (Boys only)

and then keeping going down the list...

The Latymer School. It's mixed, it's not stupidly strict and it has a relaxed atmosphere - quite the opposite of Queen Elizabeth's School basically.

There's something wrong with that. Queen Elizabeth's School does not have 512 people taking A levels. They have closer to 120 in each year group in the Sixth Form, as a result of expelling anyone who they think will bring their league table place down...

Could well be - it's the Daily Fail after all. It's just the first state school league table that Google threw up. i'm sure there are others. I would add too that I don't think results are the be all and end all but the culture / feel of a place is more difficult to measure.

I would agree with that sentiment. It's also the case that the more people a school has in the Sixth Form, the less selective they can be. More selective schools will obviously end up with better results.

Yeah, I know. They don't let people do the A levels they want to, so we get a few of them at Latymer every year and they end up getting all A*s. Stupid Queen Elizabeth School.

They're so desperate for top 11+ performers that they send people who don't have them as their first choice letters that outline how best you can jump through the hoops to go there instead. :toofunny:

I'm from Leytonstone but I am willing to travel. Not too far but I would also like somewhere near the tube stations.

Tiffin, St miichaels,QE boys, The latymer, Ilford county and sutton grammar
However these schools are quite hard to get into, especially Tiffin.
Woodhouse is good, but not amazing, its just really hard to get into because of the number of applicants.
I know these because all the people who couldn't stay on at our school applied to these, in my class, 5 People applied to Tiffin, but only 2 got offers.
4 people applied to latymer and three at ilfrd county, we all got offers.
+All the people were reasonably clever.
i got into Woodhouse, Latymer and am waiting on St Michaels, but am just abit above average in my year group.... so hope this gave you an Idea
