I took Dianette for about 6 months, and I have to say I saw very little difference. I've come off it, and my skin has gotten no worse or no better......it worked on my sister however, after about 4 months I think. Give it a bit longer, but if you still don't see any difference I would come off it. Dianette is one of the pills which does something to your metabolism so it makes it harder for you to lose weight. When I was on the pill my weight shot up (part of the reason why I came off it). Make sure you drink plenty of water, have lots of fruit and dark green veg, try and avoid greasy food and chocolate / sweets. Have you tried a cream called Freederm before? It's pricey, but it really does work.

I was on it for 5 or 6 months and it improved a bit but not enough. Then I stopped wearing concealer and foundation (I used to wear layers of the stuff) and it got better very fast. I'm still on Dianette 3 years later and my skin is just like most other teens now. So if you do wear foundation or concealer, it may be worth stopping for a while just to see if that helps. I'd certainly keep with the medication though - my acne was very bad and it certainly helped me eventually.

I've been on it 2 years, believe me it works. You have to stick with, seriously, I get about 1 spot a month now, I had quite moderate acne and huge spots, and I couldn't imagine coming off it, although I'm going to have to VERY soon *SOBS*

Be patient girl. The stuff works

Well now i'm 18 my skin's cleared up a lot, but when it was really bad i was put on Oxytetracycline, and that worked wonders, within a couple weeks my skin looked better  i'd seriously recommend you ask your Dr for that

One word, a bookload of side-effects: Roaccutane.

I always thought Roaccutane was only prescribed for severe acne..sooo...and to be honest the side effects with the pill are quite rare, as long as you have your regular check ups for BP etc. it'll all be fine.

Dianette has been the perfect cure for me- i came off it once for 6months and my skin went terrible. I also know people for whom it did nothing. I guess you just have to keep trying, really hope you find something. Yasmin is meant to be really good for hair skin and nails.

That’s the same with me, mild acne most places then a few sore [sexy], bigger spots. I don’t get as many as those now, especially on the chin, although there are still a few. It’s funny, because the skin on my forehead is fine, almost perfect! It’s a shame I have a fringe that covers the best part of my skin which happens to be a problem area for many people.

Thanks to all the girlies that have replied so far.

I'm on Mercilon which has worked really well. Oxytetracline was also quite good, but Mercilon for the win!

I've been on dianette for a couple of years now, and it does work really well, believe me. just wait a little while longer and i bet you will see a difference.

Ive been on dianette for about 9 months.. and i'd say it's helped a little. I no longer get the lrge spots on my face. Also i've noticed that my back and chest are almost clear now. they were quite bad a few years ago. But whether thats cos i'm getting older and growing out of it i don't know.

I was on Oxytetracycline before and didn't think that helped at all.

Dianette also has perks such as the contraceptive properties... very useful!

You won't be allowed roaccutane or accutane unless you have severe cystic acne. It's a serious drug.

Oxytetracycline is one of the weakest pills I think, somethign like minocycline is much more effective and some creams such as benzamycin and tanzorac are more effective still.

I was on Dianette for about 5 years and to be honest, didn't notice that much difference. My skin started to look a bit better but now its rubbish again, I might try the Freederm thing someone has suggested here.

It hasn't worked for me. Can't remember what I was prescribed (by a dermatologist, even) but it was useless.
And I've never put any make-up on and I eat fruit etc so it's not that.
I guess it depends on your skintype; people say different things.

I'm taking Roaccutane now. I used to have severe acne but now.. hehe I feel like I'm one of those commercials and this is where I go: But thanks to... blah blah blah ...

Lol, ok, so yeah, I had severe acne and I've been on Roaccutane for 6 months now, starting my 7th. I'm supposed to take it for 8 months but it's actually worked so well that I was going to stop by the 6th month..but I'm taking it for another just for good measure.

It-is-REALLY-good. I never get zits anymore, not one. It didn't kick in until the 3rd month, though, so be patient, people. It's amazing, it works and no pain involved BUT there are lots of rules you MUST stick to..

1. Drink PLENTY of water. The medicine uses all the water and natural oils in your body so you must must must replace it.. My skin has gone very dry but it's not as bad as I've seen with other people..

2. Since it uses up almost all the water and natural oils in your body, you've got to make sure you eat and drink well or you'll end up losing lots of weight.. Water can take up a maximum of 5 kilos of your body weight. Ever since I started, I've been quite careless and lots 7 kilos and it's been insanely difficult for me to put it all back on.
