Just wandering if someone could give me a list of all the colleges that are part of Oxford Uni?
The reason I ask is that my German housemate and his friends want to go to Oxford for the weekend soon and want to see some of the colleges, so I told him I'd get a list of all the colleges and which were nearest to the city centre and stuff, so they could plan a bit before they got there.
Would there be any colleges that you'd recommend them to go and look around?
From a tourist perspective??? I'd say probably just the obvious famous and older ones, like Christ Church, Magdalen, etc. They're not all open all of the time though so you'd probably have to check their websites.

Ok thanks for your help I'll give them the main web address and then they can sort it from there.

Magdalen is quite touristy - you can go round cloisters, out to New Buildings lawn (where they filmed shadowlands etc...) and round addison's walk and the fellow's garden, which is all very country-like and pretty. There's also deer to see. The college is on the high street - if you walk in the right direction, you can't fail to spot it (it's got a big tower). It is open to the public from 1pm - dusk.

Awww, I doubt Pembroke ever gets tourists. Funnily enough when i first arrived at Pembroke, i couldn't find it! And while there for interviews, when i'd go out into town, i always walked past it right down to the electrical shop...realise i had gone too far and turn around

lol! i still find it hard to get used to! It's really odd trying to get to the post room on a saturday and having to fight your way through coachloads of tourists. when i move inside walls i'm def. going for a room in one of the closed areas - how weird would it be to have a tour of people traipsing past your bedroom? sometimes i think magd has more tourists than students...

When I was at Magdalen once, I was told that the college makes around £90,000 a year from tourism.
