cancer

I know that to tell if you have cancer, you're supposed to have a lump etc. But is it usually a big or a small one or what? I've got a small lump on my face and I am so scared. I was home today and my mum said she thinks it is just a spot coming through, but it isn't red or anything like that. I've come back to uni now so am on my own, I'm really scared. :frown:

Go to to the Dr's asap, that way your mind can be put at rest. It's quite unlikely to be Cancer though.

I don't mean to trivialise your anxiety, but the arrogance people have with regard to cancer does infuriate me. I can pretty much assure you, propably with the same answer that any oncologist would provide: you most certainly do not have cancer.

Ok thanks. Sorry if offended everyone. I just get worried about the slightest thing.

Apologies again.

Don't apologise to them, you have every right to be worried.

Don't worry honey! How could it offend anyone - you're just asking advice, which is what we're (well, some of us) here for. Anyway, if you're really worried you should go see your GP. It's impossible to know what it might be without a doctor's opinion.
Stop worrying *Evenstar gives great big hug* xx

If you've only just noticed it then it won't hurt to wait a few days and see if it is just a spot. You probably look at your face quite often, so you would've noticed any small changes earlier.

Surely that was supportive. Had I have asked: "how do I know that the spot that's just erupted on my face won't morph into a second head, because i'm terribly worried that it will?", you'd all have told me to pull myself together. I was merely stating the obvious.

Good day to you all!

Anyway...SexySax, it probably is just a spot about to come out. My mum had quite a big one on her cheek, but it was under her skin, much like a cyst. But it wasn't harmful and went down after a few weeks. But, I still think you should go see your Doc to put your mind at rest.

Go to the doctors so you can be reassured. Your mind wont help things if you don't because you will probably start getting paranoid about it getting bigger when it probably isn't. But as i said, the doctors will be able to help.

Darling, ignore these people. Don't worry.

Go to the doctor and tell him you think it's a wart or something and you want to use some cream on it but want to be sure that it's a wart first, then if the doctor thinks there's any cause for concern, you'll be in the right hands. If you're worried about cancer, don't just look for lumps, look for changes in skin colour, puckering of the skin etc, but I'm sure it'll be fine.

One of my best friends has just come round and she thinks there isn't anything to worry about, but I do want to make sure.

I am just the kind of person who worries about the slightest thing so I guess I am panicking more than I should.

Reply 18

You could have cancer inside you and therefore would not feel a lump etc.
