Is having done some work experience before university essential?
I already have a place of the Graphic and Digital Design course at the University of Greenwich and am so so excited, I just don't want to get there and be worse off for not having done work experience during my 2 years at college.
Will it effect me when it comes to work placements in year 2?

Thanks.

It's always useful to have work experience when doing a course as it can help you get different perspectives on things. But there is nothing to say that you can't start building up your practical experience whilst you are at uni too. Start reading up now on what kind of placements people are doing when they are doing the course and you can also look into different ways of getting some experience e.g. volunteering, internships, placements etc. If you are armed with this kind of knowledge even before starting the course you will probably find that it helps once everything starts.
