Oh my gosh, so many!

American History X definitely stands out for me.

The one that really got to me though, was Memories of Matsuko.

It's just the whole build up to the death scene that did it though. You know she dies because the beginning of the film is her nephew retracing her life after she dies. Over the whole film she goes through so much, she has a really eventful life, and at the end of the film, you're wondering who it was who killed her. Was it her spurned lover? Was it one of her clients? Was it her employers? Was it one of the jealous colleagues? Was it her student? Was it the yakuza? Was it a cell-mate from prison?

In the end it turns out, she's just beaten to death by some little kids in the park. She had such an eventful life and it's ended so pointlessly for no reason. I cried for two hours, that's longer than the film lasted!

Might not count as he didn't really die, but when David Tennant left as the doctor.. *tears*

But if we are talking about films then it has to be Mercutio. He was utter brilliance.

I've always thought this scene could teach Hollywood how to do car crashes.....

The Descent

Exactly how it could, and unfortunately often does happen, unlike the high-flying double sumersaulting multiple exploding pile-ups you get in the average Michael Bay film.
