I thought I knew what I wanted to do at Uni and as a career but now I am having 2nd, 3rd and 4th thoughts !

It seems so ridiculous to be 30 years old and not know what I want to be !

After 8 years as a Hotel Manager and 3 Years at home raising my children, I know I want to study, get those old grey cells going again and when my children are in full time schooling and older - have a decent job that pays a decent wage.

So here I am very confused, and not sure which way to turn !

I thought perhaps some other members would post which course they are doing, and what job they hope to achieve - see if I can get some motivation and some ideas !

Thanks is advance everyone !

For years, I have a set idea that I will go to uni to study english, then at the end of it get a great job in journalism. Sure I still want to do english (though i'm having doubts as to how good i really am!) and the thought of pestering people just for a h=good story, scares me!! the only thing is, I an't see myself doing anything else, I hate talking on the phone and the thought of office work 9-5 bores me to death! So yeah, I'm slightly stuck but at the end of the day, we have to follow our hearts! Live life to the full!

I'm doing a secondary maths PGCE (teacher training).

I'd no idea what I wanted to do really and wasn't 1005 sure even when I applied to do the course, but now I'm on it I'm sure I've made the right decision...I'm really enjoying it: it's hard work, but fun at the same time

This seems an appropriate time to quote the wise baz Luhrmann:

"Don’t feel guilty if you don’t know what you want to do with your life,
the most interesting people I know didn’t know at 22
what they wanted to do with their lives,
some of the most interesting 40 year olds I know still don’t."

I want to be an adult nurse, preferably working in A&E. I don't know why but I thrive in high-pressure environments and I like the thought that I can make a difference. Put me in an office and I'd jump off the top within an hour.

I did want to study law and become an advcoate - however, I'm taking a gap year because I've started considering studying english literature and attempting the disgustingly difficult path of journalism instead.
