Thanks everyone for all your replies :O)

    Have been so helpful !

Qwerty, I have toyed with the idea of being a nurse (I come from a medical family, Mum Clinical Specialist Nurse, Stepdad Dad Doc, and aunts and uncles all in medical prof).
I think that's what made me REBEL when I was 16, my Mum really wanted me to be a nurse LOL! So I became a hotel manager instead !

Have been reading lots of sites tonight, trying to find my place LOL !

I never thought at 30 I would be going into education and still didn't know what I wanted to be when I grow up !!!!!!!!!

I thought I knew what I wanted to do at Uni and as a career but now I am having 2nd, 3rd and 4th thoughts !

It seems so ridiculous to be 30 years old and not know what I want to be !

After 8 years as a Hotel Manager and 3 Years at home raising my children, I know I want to study, get those old grey cells going again and when my children are in full time schooling and older - have a decent job that pays a decent wage.

So here I am very confused, and not sure which way to turn !

I thought perhaps some other members would post which course they are doing, and what job they hope to achieve - see if I can get some motivation and some ideas !

    Thanks is advance everyone !
I never knew what I wanted to do. I wanted to work with animals but my parents talked me out of it. For the last 10 years I've just faffed around flitting from one thing to the next; never really finding anything that I really wanted to do. Gradually, I've done more and more jobs with animals along the way that I've realised I do want to do it full-time. Now I'm a full-time veterinary nurse and I'm hoping to go on and re-train as a vet. But we'll see what happens.
I know how you feel though. It's horrible feeling that everyone else around you has a really good, well-defined career and you just don't know what to do. You'll get there though - you need to either have a really good think about what you like doing and what interests you (cos you've got to do it for the rest of your life!). Or do what I did and muck around for another ten years (but I wouldn't advise that option!)
Good luck, I hope you find something you feel passionate about. Do you have any ideas yet? xx

Gah. I hace NO idea, I'm planning on just seeing what happens. Go with the flow, y'know. I've never been one to have these majorly ambitious plans, it always leads to disappointment (for me, anyway).

I'm doing Geology, Chemistry and Environmental Science. I want to get a degree and then a PhD in some form of geology and then be an oil or mineral explorer and get paid a £700,000 bonus for every oil well I find. As you can see especially into oil.

Charley: Best of luck finding something you want to do, you are a very determined woman to go back into education! There is a couple of mature students on my course and they have such a great work ethic and are so determined, i really do admire them.
