I think some do. I know a few girls (and indeed, a few guys) who have openly admitted to purposely delaying their replies.

i don't intentionally delay texting back. i don't expect him to be sitting at the end of the phone, looking at it and waiting for it to go off. i text when i get the time. having said that, it is VERY annoying when you text someone a question and they don't answer
