So Im thinking of getting a new Desktop with a Screen. Ive only ever used Dell Laptops and Desktops. I have been looking at the Studio XPS 7100 and the 8300.

What are the views on these desktops? Any good or am i going to be better of with someone else. Im going to be using it for University work, photo editing and probably some gaming.

For the XPS 7100 i was looking at these specs:

AMD Phenom II X6 1055T (2.80GHz, 512kx6)
8192MB (2x4GB) 1333MHz DDR3 Dual Channel Memory
1.5TB (7,200rpm) Serial ATA Hard Drive
1GB ATI® Radeon™ HD 6770 graphics card with Vision Black label
Dell 1525 Wireless PCIe Network Card 802.11n
Integrated HDA 7.1 Dolby Digital Audio
Dell Wireless 365 Bluetooth Module - European

This comes to £778 plus a 23Inch montior £958 and then hoping to get student discount off that.

Any advice would be great. Want something thats going to last a good number of years as well.

You could always build that yourself. For example, that would probably cost £700 to build yourself including a monitor.

Try and get the U2311H monitor from Dell small/medium business if you decide to build it yourself as it will come to around £190 (if you use quidco) and is a superior panel type to others of the same price range.
