Internet

I have a question about residence hall internet & internet in at the Uni London in general. I'm from the US where high speed internet is simply referred to as high speed internet. My understanding is within the halls you must use an e-thernet cable to access the internet. In comparison to what most are accustomed to in the US, does anybody know if LSE's internet is similar? Both around campus and in the residence halls?

Also, I see that internet is sold by providers on a MB basis. I like to load up videos on youtube and watch Major League Baseball in HD streaming video. Does anybody know what level of connection would provide a fast enough connection for this to be possible without any lag? Thank you!

Residence hall internet is decent, on campus is great wired, adequate wireless. MB-wise you'd probably need around 5 MB at least for HD streaming.

It should be more than fast enough in most halls of residence and on campus. You don't pay extra for internet access.

It's not helpful, but average internet speeds in the UK as a whole are better than the USA, or at least they were. In cities, speeds are much higher than natioanl averages.

Remember that your website might not work in the UK (without a VPN, proxy or whatever - but that can impact your speed too).
You just don't want any lag on your porn films :colone:...

...Major League Baseball in HD streaming video? LOL - Good one!!
