My dissertation is Optional - should I do it or not?

As the title asks, a dissertation isn't compulsory on my degree and I can take another exam assessed module instead if I wish.

I've heard people say it depends what you want to do after you graduate - I'm not sure at the moment, I've got various ideas. So what's the general view - yey for dissertation or nay?

Thanks
I'd say yay. I've heard (heard, that is, so don't quote me on it!) that some masters programmes won't take you unless you've done a module, and that they're looked at quite favourably by employers when looking at your transcript, as it shows you have initiative and can stick with stuff.

Someone else may know different though!
I think it can be interesting, especially as you can often study whatever you are fascinated by. Plus, I think it looks good on your transcript and the end result is often something you can be really proud of.

But, it can be very stressful and a right pain. :/

I had to do mine, and now it is done, I can see the positives. There were definitely times when I was working in it where I felt like I was out of my depth though.
