My next door neighbour brought his son brand new Audi A5

just because he passed his test last week. I personally think a 18 year old driving a A5 is a huge step and he should start with a small car - dont you agree?

I'd start with a banger - doesn't matter if you prang it that way...

Good on the lad, as long as he doesn't act spoilt and really big headed then I'm cool with it, people need to stop hating, because if you just had an A5 brought for you would you really be like " Dad wth, why, waste of money, I can't even drive something this big " .... No....

I'd be happy with a cheap little runabout as a first car. Of course I'd be jealous of someone my age who had an A5, but the world's an unfair place, I'd get over it. The OP doesn't sound paticurly jealous to me though.

A knew of a guy at a private school in Harrogate who had an Audi R8 at 17. Great if you can afford it (or daddy can) but doesn't leave you much room for ambition. I love dreaming of one day owning a supercar, and to have done it with no effort so you removes that goal in life.

A5 is a cold and boring car imo, but as long as it's insured I don't really see the problem.

I completely agree with this. I'd rather work for it than have it handed to me on a plate.

i agree with the above sentiments. if the car itself, the running of it, and insurance have been paid for, and they use the car responsibly/dont harm other through its use, then why should it matter what others think -_-

PS: besides, if it is a nice car, the boy might put more effort into being careful with its use - more likely to take more care when parking up next to your car on the road.
