Compo and mot à mot are excellent for essays...lots of little phrases which makes an essay that much better. Anyone doing coursework for French should have these two books! :wink:

Admittedly, some are stolen from Mot à Mot. But they are a list of things that I have got marks for in practice cwk essays. We get ticks for register and manipulation which is how the cwk is marked and these are things that have got a tick with either 'R' or 'M' written next to them (for manipulation or register)

u need to add accents on a couple of the phrases like above the "a" cos my computer isnt having any of it...sorry folks! most are fine though. u just need em on the a in on exagererait a peine, ajoutons a cela and above the u on ou.

I bought Mot a Mot from Amazon, they say its invaluable, but yes it definately is!! I used it for an essay and the response? My teacher is going to photocopy it and use it as an example because of the great essay style, all of which was constructed using that book, seriously it has everything! Buy it now!

What a great idea for a thread. My French teacher was also saying to us that it's a good idea to write down our fave phrases and structures to use.

Anyone got any good ones that use the subjunctive? I'd love to be able to slip that in in my mock exam, as we've just learnt it recently and my teachers would love me if I did :wink:

I know someone posted a huge list earlier on, but if anyone has any others that would be great!
