reading too much into texts...

Hi.

Im really into a girl I work with. Everyone who works there gets along really well, see eachother outside work etc.

Started texting her recently... but get replies saying things like 'hope ur day went well'. Is that her saying hope you're ok but dont want a txt conversation?

IS there any difference between 'how was your day' and hope your day went well?

I keep reading onto things like that, hope i'm wrong.

just be yourself and confident, if you like her, build up some confidence and talk to her about it. Having said that, going out with a girl you work with could get messy.

ive never been very self-confident. might just be my way of convincing myslef not to approach girls and run the risk of being shot down.

Well to be honest; "Hope your day went well" is kind of definitive, and does not allow much elaboration of the topic. However, by saying "How did your day go?" she is asking a question, which is obviously meant to be answered; so she is laying the basis for further communication with you. It is probably, thus, a better sign if she were to say "How was your day?", than just provide a friendly statement.

However, you have to take into account minor things like she might have run out of characters, and had to cut the question etc. (Now this really is reading into things!). Sometimes, I will say "Hope you had a nice day", or "Hope you are well", and do not intend these comments as a brush-off...so it could be that she doesn't mean it to end the text convo.

There's no way to be sure to be honest, just wait until you guys have built up more of a rapport, and then pass judgement.

Oh no no no dont do the whole massively reading into messages thing! Maybe its just what she says instead of asking a question or just didnt want to pressure u into texting back meh I dont know. All I know is that it doesnt *really* matter in the grand scheme of things.

maybe she is just cheap. I get annoyed when people text me just to say hi because then I have to text back to be polite but neither of us have anything really important to say so its just an irritating waste of money. i would have written "hope your day went well" to be polite but yeah it would signify to me that I am not interested in a texting conversation. but that doesnt necessarily mean I don't like you.

I always read too much into texts, but there can be a time when you can read too too much, and I think i don't cross that line.

There is one.... it'll just take me a while to think of it!
i usually take it to mean 'goodbye now...' so i stop texting after that.
this probably is trying to start a conversation.
just talk to her and im sure you and her ewill be ok in the end.
good luck!!

naa i write txts like that all the time.. but with the intention of writing getting a reply. I understand what u mean though.. if she wnated yu to txt ehr back.. she wouldve left a question instead of answering it for you.
Agh some ppl just write things like that. For instance, I write on msn, you alright? Instead of How are you. If you were trying to read into that you could say that the first question is suggesting that there is/could be something wrong, whereas the second does not. But I dnt mean to imply anything its JST WHAT I ALWAYS SAY.
