Is Facebook still randomly deleting friends for me?

I noticed a couple years ago I had a couple of friends who at the time I thought deleted me. But a bit of time later and they returned to my friends list.

I'm not sure if it's happened again or whether people are just deleting me. One good pal of mine is no longer on my friends list but as I'm not in regular contact with him it feels stupid to ask him.

What made me wonder if Facebook was doing the deleting again was this girl who is no longer on my friend list. She has 1500 friends and some of our mutual friends I know for fact she barely even knows and will never be in touch with again. So it seems very odd that she would pick me out to delete me from her 1500 friends - especially when she added me! It's not like I've got an annoying Facebook profile or anything.

Meh just thought I'd ask anyways - out of curiosity. I'm intrigued and baffled by the numbers of people deleting me lately. My friend list seems to be going down every day :/ Have other people found Facebook deleting friends recently?

Sometimes people disappear randomly for a few weeks then reappear again; they just can't be found on the friends list or search bar. That's the only thing i notice; yours sounds like it might be a bit different.

Some people deactivate their accounts near exam time.

I have this one friend that at one point activated and deactivated there Facebook on a weekly basis for about 3 months. Must have been difficult to live without.

yeah probably de-activation. I keep noticing every time a gain a few friends on facebook, I end up with the same amount of total friends, lol.

I lose and regain about 5 friends regularly - but I don't know which friends they are because I don't have my list memorised or written down anywhere.

Aside from the deactivation has anyone noticed what I mentioned, which is a friend disappearing off your friend list (by this I mean his profile is still active but he's not one of your friends) and then by itself he's your friend sometime after again.

You dont believe how badly I relate to you. Lately my facebook friend count went down by a whooping 10%. Its kind of odd to ask people you are not in close contact with. But so many people unfriending you with no cause at all seems very unlikely. Also, I have been seeing many people facing the same issue as me. So I have reached to a conclusion that there might be some bug in the facebook friend system that removes friends automatically.
