How come Benicio del Toro (21 Grams) is nominated for "best actor" at the BAFTAs and as "best supporting actor" at the Academy Awards? Do they have different criteria?

Yep, there are ones for Best Director, Best film etc. But it's the actor ones I'm interested in!

OMG, I can't believe that! Del Toro is a wicked actor, you must have seen him somewhere, you just didn't know it was him.
Have you seen "Traffic"? That's (I think) his most famous movie.
As for "21 Grams", I'm not sure if it's already been released in the UK. The director is Gonzàlez Iñarritu, whom you might know from "Amor es perros". Do make sure you see it, IMO it's the second best movie (after Lost in Translation) I've seen in the past 12 months.

Of all the movies mentioned here, I've only seen 21 Grams, Lost in Translation, Mystic River and Love Actually (nope, still not LOTR )

Out of these, I think for "best actor", Bill Murray should get it, closely followed by Sean Penn (for 21 Grams).

Out of the two "supporting actors" I can have an opinion on, it's probably got to be Tim Robbins, although Bill Nighy was excellent as well. But Tim Robbins had a more challenging role, and hence more of an opportunity to shine.

If you go to User CP, it will tell you how many rep points you have. When you hit 100 you will get another green gem under your name.

Ah, I see. I can't believe the amount of rep some people have got on here though!
