Don't squeeze so hard!

I don't know, but that happens to me quite often. I think it's just a matter of feeling safe and protected when you're being hugged so you can relax and have a bit of a cry. It's a good thing

Because by hugging us, you give the feeling your are here to comfort us, so we cry more to give you more emotion and making your generous hug worthwhile

I don't think it's just hugging. Whenever you're about to burst to tears and you're just on the edge, the minute someone asks you "are you ok" or something of the sort that's when they begin to spill. At least it's like that for me, it's when someone aknowledges the fact that I'm about to cry that I actually do.

I just didn't expect it, she was looking a bit upset and worn down so I was just like 'come here' and tried to comfort her and she was crying for about 10 mins it turned into a councelling session. Shes the type of girl who's tough though so didn't expect it

Even tough people need a good cry. No-one can hold it in forever.

Reply 9

If shes tough that problem means she'd been building it up for ages and it all just came out. The fact that she cried more when you hugged her is good, it means she was happy and relieved that someone cared.

You seem like a great friend to have.

When someone's usually tough it can be worse because there's usually more stuff that has been bottled up for a while

Stuff bottled up inside is not all that bad.

Sometimes I use it to as a fuel. During my last year in school we did a really crap book and when we got an essay on it, I used all the pent up frustration about having to listen to all the discussions about it that I ended up writing a 5 page rant. Got a 9/10 for it too. If I'd let it out earlier, I would have ended up writing a nice essay about how I agree and gotten a 6 :frown:

Hadn't thought of that. I guess you're right.
But what I was saying before was that maybe she wasn't just crying about that one thing, but rather that was what pushed it over the edge...
Bottled up stuff can also be a pain and block you from concentrating in anything else though.

That's true, but I've never really experienced having too much stuff bottled up, so I wouldn't know.

Girls are naturally disposed to crying... and if they did it alone, it'd look a bit sad.

Hence, your shoulder is a very attractive piece of real estate.

Reply 17

i think its the fact you have shown that you care  and you can just release it cause you know the person you with is there for you

Maybe you hugged her to hard and hurt her ribs :p:

Yep. I was in that situation yesterday, and was just about holding it together when my boss asked me if I was upset, then I bawled my eyes out, it was so embarassing. :frown:
