So depressed after failing 1st driving test!

Urgh! I failed my 1st driving test last Monday with 4 minors and 2 majors. Eversince I have been thinking about it all day....I could've had a car by now :frown: and would be free. But I now have to wait 6 weeks for my next test. The majors were very silly mistakes too that never happens to me, which makes m further depressed on why it all went wrong! Please give some helpful advice.

Ah, never mind. Try again and don't get too disheartened. Nerves get to even the best of people usually.

I passed on my 3rd (official :hmmm:) time.

Hmmm, I agree with the above but I really wanted to pass first time as I had a younger cousin sister who passed 1st time few weeks ago. And my family don't own a car so I would be the first one. Now I have to wait to make that dream come true hopefully and I will pass by driving very cautiously

I know plenty of people who failed first time - just make sure you learn from your mistakes and try again. Good luck.

I've failed 3, and 2 of them were for one silly mistake so I know how you feel. But don't do what I did and give up.

I'm sure when my brother was taking his test a few years back that his driving instructor told him 7/10 people don't pass their test first time.
Sometimes it's just nerves, even if you don't realize at the time that you are nervous!

Sounds like my first attempt O.o but don't worry, everyone makes silly mistakes when nerves take over. Just got to relax for your next test and also don't be too cocky.

Only 20% pass first time, and I bet a lot of them just get lucky. If you want advice try the other googolplex threads on this.

I failed my first test 100 yards from the test centre. As I was learning in a 1.8 Corsa, it wheel-spinned a tiny bit and was told i lost control of the car. Was proper bummed. I passed second time in the end. Then my folks bought me a Corsa, so embarrassing to drive lol... took me 2 years to save for the car I wanted!

I was certain I would pass my test first time and be part of the 'elite' which manage to do so. My instructor had said I was one of the best students he ever had, which boosted my ego a fair amount. I didn't pass, I failed due to the most rookie mistake ever...

I was depressed knowing I wouldn't be one of the lucky few who pass first time, but I can assure you that once you pass you won't care. You'll realise that it's not as much of a big deal as it's made out to be. So chill, there's a lot more out there to be depressed about!

Awh dont worry! i didnt pass till my 3rd time! due to other road users being absoulute d**ks :frown: such as wrong indications and pulling out when they shouldnt have done

a lot of people dont pass first time  next time just think of it and proving to the instructor tha you can do it

also try to focas on the actual driving such as road signs and hazards ahead, the test goes a lot quicker if you can ignore the fact someone is watching your every move

Well next time I suggest you listen to this song before the test starts. I guarantee you'll pass!

I passed 2nd time  You'll be fine! I failed first time with 1 major 17 minors, 17!!! haha thats bad!

Reply 13

I passed 2nd time, 1st time I failed with 3 majors and 9 minors, in fact I failed within 10 minutes of starting the test, the instructor had to grab the wheel a few times and I forced another car to emergency stop on a roundabout. :colondollar:

Don't worry, there's no shame in failing! I know someone who's taking their 6th test in a few weeks.

Don't be upset i failed first time with 3 minors and 1 major which wasn't even my fault. On my second test I got 15 minors and passed (I had a harsh examiner im a good driver lol).

Moral of the story is you will get there in the end.

I am very proud to say that I passed first time. But if I wouldn't have passed I would have said right now I know what not to do, and also wouldn't be so nervous the 2nd time.

So stay positive, 2nd time will be easier.

Yes it's annoying because driving tests and lessons are stressful and really expensive but at least you didn't hit a police car! That was on my 2nd attempt by the way, 3rd time lucky!

I felt that, got 1 minor in an area i'd only been to twice and still failed :frown:

20%

Weird, 100% of people I know have passed first time, and that's about 8/9 people that have passed. Mum,bro and the rest friends...

Don't feel too disheartened, I failed first time, and without trying to be cocky I'm considered the best and smoothest driver among my family and friends, most of who passed first time. In fact I have a friend who recently passed first time and he is an absolutely **** driver, stalls every time and can't park for ****. A lot of the practical (and too much in fact) really consists of pure luck, just try again and you'll pass don't worry.
