As above really, and is it worth 1 more year at uni for it?
Just to check, you are aware that you don't become a CEng just through an extra year at university? And that there are other considerations other than just CEng status when deciding on a BEng or an MEng? Jenn xx
As has been said, the usual route is to do an MEng then a few years work experience, then present a portfolio of your work to your Institute and then get Chartered status.
Before getting chartered status, you might be on 18K - 23K

After 30K and well ABOVE
But you don't necessarily need to be chartered to get above the 30k - my dad has 29 years experience in the industry and is very well respected within his work place. He can't be bothered to get chartered status because of the paperwork, and hasn't had any problems working his way up the career ladder to well above 30k! It might be beneficial if you're going to swap jobs regularly or want to work abroad I guess but if you're planning on staying with the one company, I'd have to say that becoming chartered isn't necessarily going to affect you one bit - they're not suddenly going to pay you more cos you're a CEng.
