Is this Project Management? I've never come across a cascade chat before, only pert and gannt charts.

I've done a lot of gannt chat stuffs but I think I've always used a pert chart to show the float. I'll see if I can find some old notes (I got 23/24 for projece mangement at college) so I would like to think it was one of better subjects, I only got 60% when I did it at uni though.

well the definition, taken from my school book:
Critical path The sequence of activities which determines the minimum time needed to complete a project.

with other words when you have done an analysis of a network, written down the time different things takes to do, you can count out the critical path, this is the path where you can't be delayed in the work.

If the activity has a float, you draw it as a bar (the same as for those activities without a float), then draw a dotted line in front of it, at the point where the float ends.

Whether that'll help you, I'm unsure. I'm not entirely clear what you're getting at.
