No Privacy

I have no privacy at home. I come back after a weekend away and someone has been through my private drawers - I found something that should have been in the bottom of them on my bed. My parents can't be bothered to have a lock installed. I can't lock the wardrobe or the drawers, and I know my sister takes my clothes when I'm not there, and usually ruins them. I get expensive pairs of shoes back with the heels ruined, or jeans back with the bottom muddy and ripped because they're too long for her.

I'm away at uni most of the time. I want to stay there all the time but my parents think I'm just having "teenage angst" (even though I'm not a teenager  ). I'm an adult and deserve my space.

What can I do? No one will own up to having gone through my stuff. They shouldn't be in my room in the first place. I'm so angry.

This happened to me when I lived at home. I invested in a lock myself. It was just like a doorknob with a keyhole in the centre. Got it from B&Q, it wasn't really that expensive and gave me peace of mind.
Alternatively, take all the stuff you don't want them to find up to uni with you.
Hope you get it sorted - there's nothing worse than knowing someones been through your stuff, it's a total violation. Good luck xx

a few ideas: why don't you get a lock installed on your door (with just one key for yourself) the next time your parents go out for night, and tell your little sister to stop borrowing your clothes, or you could just take all of your really nice clothes and stuff to uni with you.

It's when I'm at home that it happens. When I'm away at uni I take most of my stuff with me, sadly I do come back to find my room has been gone through anyway. I will try the B&Q idea. The last time I asked for a lock on my door my dad said no however.

I'm worried about this when I go to uni. I just know my sister is going to rifle through my stuff and ruin it all, as I can't take all of it with me (I have a lot of stuff, and I'm not going to be wearing summer clothes in November). There is no way my parents will let me put a lock on my door. Do you think it is reasonable to put a padlock on your wardrobe? (I am being totally serious. People (my sister) borrowing my stuff without my permission really really pisses me off)
