OK, in the main body of my personal statement text, should I use a capital letter when naming a subject? ie:

I find Math's and Chemistry interesting.

    ty.

Yes, if you are just talking about the subject you study.

    "Math's" implies either:
Math possesses something (i.e. Math's pen - Math owns that pen)...
    OR...
Math is something (Math's great - Math is great).

It could also denote the omission of, um, 'ematic' from Mathematics. So it is technically right, but chances are it's by default.

And yes, stick with 'Mathematics'. It's posher sounding, innit?

    NOOOOO!

My sixth form team REFUSED to send our applications off with capital letters as names of subjects!

    What we all put:
AS levels in Maths, History, French, Chemistry

    Correct version:
AS levels in maths, history, French, chemistry
