Advice on anniversary present!!

Lol, ok firstly i have to explain that im posting as an anonymous user because my boyfriend often uses this site, so i don't want him to see this thread as im planning a suprise (ok? )

Erm right, so on saturday im planning to take him on the london eye and i'm thinking about getting there about 5.30pm, however sunset on saturday is at 4.00pm so im going to miss it. If i want to see the sunset im going to have to rearrange my hours at work (which could be difficult) so before i attempt it, is it worth going on the eye at sunset or will it be equally beautiful at night...i want it to be romantic so any opinions on the matter would be much appreciated! Thanks so much!

london at night is fantastic! especially where the eye's located, you'll be abe to see everything. i havn't even been on the eye, but i've often been around that area near the thames at night time and i really love it. everything in london's lit up, not in a tokyo neon-lighting manner, but more with just white lighting so you can see the splendour of certain buildings against the night sky. for example, st pauls looks incredible, big ben's face lights up, the houses of parliament look splendid, the tate modern actually has some interesting colourful lighting on the top of its chimney... london is just the best city in the world, even at night.

aah, thinking about it makes me want to go on it at night with my (ex)girlfriend.

it really does sound like an amazing present, and i reckon it will be a lot more beautiful at night time. night time in london just has that magical quality in the air.

I would make it a little bit later so that it is perfectly perfectly dark so you can appreciate how nice the lights are and stuff. Just think it could be cloudy and london at night time would be cool, but their wouldnt be a sunset so especially at this time of year you would be making a big risk for that sunset!
