Eating Patterns

I didnt think there was anything the matter with my eating patterns until my housemate pointed it out  and now she thinks i have a disorder. Does anyone have any weird eating patterns? Also, could my eating behaviour have any bearing on weight gain? Or loss? I do gain easily

On a day of lectures, I never eat breakfast, i will have a snack around 11am if iv had an early lecture, then another - maybe a sandwich around 3pm. Then dinner around 6. However, if i go out at night i will rarely eat a proper dinner.

On a day off, or when i have nothing in the morning, i will hava slice of toast when i get up, then nothing until dinner. (get up around 12) Though the last week of uni, because we went out quite alot, i honestly did forget to eat dinner afew times! And i do forget lunch sometimes too!

Sorry to ramble  Its just that now my friend has pointed this out, they all watch when and what i eat! But i do think its the norm for students to eat differently to when they would at home. i dont know, its just got me thinking!

You eat very little overall, which is the main problem.
I don't think thats' really a strange eating pattern at all - I stay exactly the same weight whatever I eat, and I never eat breakfast, my lunch would usually just be a sandwhich around 2pm, and a dinner at 7. However I never miss my dinner - just be careful to remember it and cook something really tasty!!
This last week I've actually slept through lunch a couple of times and havecn't eaten it - but I don't think that's really a reason to suspect anybody of having an eating disorder!
I reckon that's fine. Everybody's eating habits are different.

Well when you have a BMI of less than 18 (20 = underweight, 25 = average, 30 = obese) gaining weight feels like an impossible task..

Mine varies quite a bit. I tend to go through time when I don't feel that hungry and don't really eat that much. I don't tend to eat copious amounts anyway...sometimes I don't have much breakfast or lunch. Just not that hungry really. I have lost quite a bit of weight lately.... :s:

Bit off-topic here, but what worries would those be?

eating in the way that you do is likely to cause weight gain. its very unbalanced. not eating breakfast, snacking and missing proper meals is really bad. think of your metabolism!

and anyway, it can cause more than weight gain. it could affect your energy levels and concentration on your work too.

I eat irregularly too. Today I ate a tuna sandwich at 1pm (no breakfast, although if you count the truly *disgusting* donner kebab with garlic mayonnaise at 3am as breakfast then..meh) a packet of crisps at about 5.30, then a KFC at 7.30ish.

I eat SO unhealthily at uni :frown:

Can't wait to go home tomorrow, I can eat proper healthy meals! Yay!!

Honey, am in d same situation as u r! I dont know what the hell is wrong with my flatmates keeping tabs on my diet! Everytime I venture to enter the kitchen, they all come out to see what am cooking/eating, then one of them pulled me aside and asked why I ate so little, she was concerned that I might have an eating disorder. Okay, I must confess, I did have an eating disorder, but this was yrs back! I love FOOD but since I cant cook properly and I ve never liked proper food, I syrvive on bread and biscuits. And I love it!!!

well to tell you the truth your eating habits doesn't seem that good. try and eat some fruit some time during the day, like on the way to school in the morning. the first thing you have to do though if you want to change this is to eat regurlarly. i know that it is hard/difficult to eat breakfast but in the begining just take something it doesn't matter if its just a glass of juice/milk, fruit, cup of tea/coffe or whatever as long as you eat something. this way you will learn to listen to your body and don't forget as many meals as you do know.
My eating habits are so messed up at uni its unbelievable. Id say i eat healthily e.g. normally get in 3-4 portions of fruit and veg a day and some form of significant protein, but the times at which i eat are VERY variable!
If you don't eat at regular intervals your body doesn't know when it is going to get its next meal, and so stores fat more easily. You should try and eat 3 balanced meals a day (although 6 small ones are better) and drink lots of fluid. Should sort your system out. Also, if you pig out one day, don't starve yourself the next - just go back to eating normally.

i usually dont eat for two days and then i'll binge on cheese chive seabrook crinkly crisps n then i'll throw em back up. n only have one proper meal a week. so if you hav a dodgy pattern from what you described what does that make me?!?!?!?!

IGNORE YOUR MATE LOL!!!
I have a weird messed-up eating pattern too. I don't know if my friends think I have an eating disorder but they all say I never eat anything, which isn't true - like you I just eat at very odd times when I'm at uni. I'll have a sandwich and chocolate for lunch at 4pm sometimes, and other days I'll graze all day. I eat the weirdest things for breakfast too,if I have it, and sometimes make myself food in the middle of the night if I'm hungry and have an essay crisis. Sometimes I'm really hungry and want to eat loads, and sometimes can go all day not wanting to eat anything (yes, I know this is bad, but there are times when I just really do not feel like actually eating anything...though actually I think that might have been due to some weird virus thing that was going round.)

Anyway, not sure all that made sense, but glad to know other people have weird crap eating habits too - I thought I was almost the only one as most of my friends at uni seem to be quite good about food!

No Breakfast
If I'm at college or it's a college day I'll have a sandwich between 12-2pm. If not, probably a snack
Dinner at 6-7pm
Breakfast at about midnight-2am before bed
