Has anyone worked at Ardmore language schools before?

Just wondering the above really, and what the atmosphere's like, what I can expect?

I'm going to be a senior welfare leader, and have worked as an activity leader before, but at smaller sites and centres.

Cheers!

Hey, I worked at Ardmore last year in Ipswich. Which centres are you guys in?
I worked as a Senior Welfare Leader and loved it. the main duty is night shifts and making sure the kids go to bed! The centres have large groups of staff which makes it really fun. You get the time to help out with sports and activities too if you want, and are responsible for helping out the activity staff on the weekend trips to london/cambridge etc..

hey KimberleyL im working in the Royal Hospital School Centre, I was wondering if you had any more information when you worked for ardmore, did you get sent any more informationj, or a day/time of arrival, as my sister works for a different summer language school and they are to arrive the day before their contract starts.

ah you're at RHS too! awesome, we'll be working together, there's only a few senior welfare leaders.. The start date is 3rd July which I think is a sunday. Last year the kids arrived on that day too, but hopefully we'll get a bit more time to settle in before they come. Have you received an email yet?

Its really fun! the first couple of weeks are normally pretty busy, lots of early starts etc, but welfare gets the best job.. apart from the night duties. I'm in New Zealand atm, been here for a couple of months and decided to come back early for ardmore so yeah it is good. I'm from Norwich so its not that far for me from there. Where are you from?

Hey Ellie,

Obviously there are other jobs that you are expected to do in the day especially when there are arrivals and departures where you will be working closely with foreign group leaders to sort out room allocations etc.
But in my experience there will be plenty of opportunites to help out with sports and other activities and its also good to give the activity leaders a hand, as sometimes there are large groups of kids with only a couple of activity leaders.

I would talk to your Head of activities and they may be able to rota you in to do sports, especially if theres something you are passionate about doing. Most centres should be pretty flexible..

good luck: after two seasons (easter and summer) working with ardmore, I promise you its a chaotic, messed up organisation. The whole layouts ok, but if I were you, Id change to actviity staff as quick as possible. They actually have stuff to do: SWL just walk around telling children off. NOT a happy summer.

Plus, you get treated like poop by the group leaders of the visiting groups.

hello Drencharmstrong, I am working from the 8th July to the 5th August! The school does look really nice. Are you excited? And since sending contracts back have you received anymore information? x x
Hey, I just got sent my info for this year, I really enjoyed working as a SWL last year at 3 different centres, sometimes it can be hard especially if your in the middle if nowhere but generally really fun and an enjoyable summer. If you have any specific questions I'll happily try to help x
