Tampons

As I went to purchase some emergency tampons in Boots today; a thought arose:

Why should we have to pay for sanitary wear?

We can't help that we have periods and its medical so why can't it be free on NHS??? The amount we dole out on tampons-its a whole trifling market, did you know you can get organic tampons?!

So here begins the petition. Tampons on the NHS.

the NHS are already in crap. they aren't going to start providing free sanitary products.

I agree! Especially considering how much that stuff costs!

You could get a mooncup?

Or contraception is free, and some of that stops your periods or makes them lighter

Juno, that dude in your avatar knows everything...

Imagine what you could get in a lifetime if you didn't have to pay for tampons.

I've often thought this...

Sanitary wear isn't really like medicine though, it's under the category of personal hygiene really. Next we could campaign for free soap and shampoo because we can't help sweating either :p:

Well give a choice between free health and dental, free contraception and free hospital visits or free tampons. I'm afraid the tampons lose out.

Be thankful you aren't living in the US or Canada where you have to pay for everything.

Hehe the Victorians used to thing it was a lady's organs bleeding.

I think it is a medical condition because we bleed, it causes pain, hormones to go crazy, I go up a dress size and we have to pay the price for it literally.

If you put a bloke under the same kind of ailments as periods he'd think he was dying.

TAMPONS [of all sizes and variations-preferably in those cute colourful multipacks] ON THE NHS!!!!!

they should make men buy something monthly.. GIVE MEN UTERUS' TOO!!!

What is annoying is that we have to pay VAT on them, because the government classes them as a "non-essential item." Now THAT annoys me.

So you all want tampons on the NHS...this would mean most people would have to pay £6.50 and visit the doctor for £2.00 worth of tampons. Erm...not seeing the logic. They do not class as contraception so I'm afraid most people would have to pay.
I'm afraid I'm one of these people who doesnt agree with things like paracetamol on the NHS except in extreme circumstances...so I most certainly arent going to agree with this!
How much do you really spend on them. If youre that bothered by cheapo supermarket own brand. Less than £1 would see you through a month. Not seeing a problem there!

Oh yeah, I remember when J-17 (I think it was that magazine) was campaigning to have the VAT removed. Hehe, maybe the MP's in Parliament are the sort like at my uni who scrawl "tampons/pads are unnatural, give into the flow!" in the loos. Eep.

Well, they have to buy razors and shaving stuff and the like. I know we do that too, but they do it more!
