Can some check I have the correct answer to this question and if not, can you post your working up.

Differentiate y=(x+1)^½

The answer i got was -½x-1

dy/dx = [(x)(x+1)-1/2/2 - (x+1)1/2(1)]/x²
Multiply numerator and denomator by (x+1)½
dy/dx = [½x-(x+1)]/x²(x+1)½
dy/dx = (-½x-1)/x²(x+1)½
