I'm not from Woodhouse, but I did apply there (god it seems a long time ago). My general impression from when I visited and had an interview was that its full of toffs who stick their nose up at everyone else. The results are good nevertheless.

I got an offer but rejected them because:
a) It was pretty far away
b) I prefered a sixthform to a college
c) I didn't particularly like their attitude as I said.

i can assure you that nobody except for the odd exception is a toff. This was my impression before i arrived but now i'm there its not like that. we're students and still get up to the same cr.ap as everyone else, go out cause havoc down tally ho corner etc. Bad decision, you'll regret it, unless you really like ur sixth form

Well I am at university now, and I really did like my sixth form. The school atmosphere is cool IMO.

I'm applying to Woodhouse this year, but I've heard that the college is becoming more rude-boi dominated  . I know in the good old days when my brother went there it wasn't like that. Well hopefully I get an offer, I think I have the right grades but there's other factors as well.

Rude-boi is taking it a bit far, we're jus normal. The grades are still excellent but its not as posh as it used to be (i don't really know if it was that posh before i only found out about it a month before i applied). The atmosphere is excellent. Everyone is approachable and theres a lot of student support. The only real thing i would worry about is how far you have to travel each morning. It takes me 45 mins to get there by bus.

Woodhouse is the leading sixth form college in London, indeed one of the best in the country. According to the OFSTED inspection report 1 in 8 previously attended an Independant School. Perhaps these are the 'toffs' you're reffering. I have a friend who went there and she told me there were a lot of...Asians from the local North London area ^o). Anyway, she told me the students weren't 'stuck up' and that she had a good time there (she was the President of the Student Union) but if the students didn't acheive high AS grades then they chucked you out after the first year because they didn't want it to reflect badly in the League Tables...

They are indeed the toffs I am referring to. However, I extend that to the admission tutors who patronised one of my mates because my secondary school wasn't particularly high achieving, and he was an A* student.

Why am I not surprised?

I would imagine that virtually everyone who goes there has a string of A*s and As at GCSE (including my friend).

She got Cs in her ASs then moved to another college to start again (didn't exactly have much of a choice). She did well, eventually completing her A2s in the Summer this year and is at Southampton now doing what she wants to do, so everything turned out alright.

I didn't have a string of A*s by any measure, but my mate did, and they totally dissed him by saying how the school was so crap and how he could be predicted such high grades. They are so not full of themselves.

My ASs were pretty poor (ABCD), but retakes and A2s got them up to decency.

I just looked up my partners CV and he was at Woodhouse from '99 for a few years. Had no idea it was seen as a decent place. Interesting, is it really posh?

Yes. Mind you, it looks very posh from the outside (the building).

Did she do A levels?

not posh i can assure but there are a few who previously went to independents. They push you to get the grades. You must get either a C or be proven to be a hard worker to progress to A2. Its just like every other 6th form/college of course they're gonna chuck u out if you do badly

What school dod you previously attend? Anyone from Queen Elizabeth Grammar?
