Quick question. Will they be sending this email to our @standrews.ac.uk address, or the one we gave them? I'm asking only because I and a friend of mine have had login problems for the St Andrews addres.

Read the first post of this thread  That should have most of the information you need.
As mentioned, you need to login to your e-contrat, of which there is a link to in the OP.

Havn't seen this Q anywhere, what's roughly the procedure for giving out rooms, ie for instance it states Uni Hall has only 4 en-suite single rooms, so what are the chances you will get one if you list that as your preference?

Well you don't specifically apply for Uni Hall. You'd apply for catered ensuite. In which case you're much much more likely to get John Burnett annexe or DRA. Although if you put shared in there, then your chances go up for one of the shared rooms with ensuite. I didn't know they had single ensuite rooms in Uni Hall (or any ensuites), I may be inclined to think they might be reserved for asst wardens.. but who knows!

I'm not sure exactly where these are. But I know of one in Old Wing, Uni Hall and it was on the girls floor so I assume another one was on the boys floor below it. These were both given to returning students. Pretty sure the ensuite rooms in Lumsden were all shared and I have no idea about Wardlaw. Most of the single rooms, other than in Lumsden, are given to returning students as it is only first years who share rooms so I'd say your chances of getting a single ensuite room in Uni Hall are really pretty low. I'd be very surprised if you ended up with one. Chances are you'd end up in DRA. there are a few rooms in JBH annexe but it is more likely you'll be in catered DRA.
If you really like Uni Hall, sharing a bathroom in Lumsden is really fine. I only ever had to wait on a bathroom after raisin. The rest of the time there were always plenty free. There's about 40 people sharing about 10 bathrooms and the layout means you never have far to walk. Each room has a sink as well so it's fine. I'm actually really glad I didn't spend the extra money on an ensuite as in my opinion, it would have been a waste as the bathrooms in Uni hall were lovely. Really modern and they were cleaned every day. If I had had an ensuite, I would have had to clean it myself.

Thanks, it would be helpful if there were pictures but somehow don't think there are any, I think it's impossible to accurately imagine what it's like...

Thanks, I didn't really mean to put down Uni Hall specifically just what are the chances you will be allocated there. As there's no way of telling which residence an applicant would prefer I assume it's just completely random....

Well, then. I didn't know I had to do this, but now I've submitted an e-mail address. Thanks for the help! I never would have figured this out without you.

I've had the email offering me accomodation  - but it doesn't say to which hall and I can't get into the e-contracts link from where I am!
I'll have to wait until I get home at 5pm

Aww :frown: That's a bit annoying. At least you don't have to wait any longer than a few hours though
Where you hoping to get?

Standard catered - but I'm not going to mind too much - I will like it no matter which hall it is.

Even if this forum is mainly used by undergrads you maybe can explain the difference between David Russell Apartments ensuite and ensuite studios. Is it just about the extra kitchen and is the studio any bigger? I am not sure, but dont you feel a bit more isolated in the studios as there is no common kitchen, room, etc. ?

Just a heads up to people, that on a St Andrews Facebook Group, you can add your name to a list of halls and try to meet fellow roommates or flatmates that way. And it's a great place to meet people you might meet later in class too, so it's worth joining if you have Facebook.

Yes, basically the studios are all about being your complete own space. You will still be on a floor with some people (I think!) but it's your own door and your own flat. It's not massive though, it's just a studio flat.
And yeah, it probably is a little lonely on your own sometimes, but it really depends on what kind of person you are. Plus, DRA has a ton of common space in the main building, so no need to feel isolated, you can just go outside and chat to a few people. I think there are lots of pros and cons about a studio flat.

Hey, I just got my offer through for Andrew Melville. Can anyone tell me if I'm allowed to bring my own TV? Thanks. (And sorry for the double post)

What is your opinion about being ensuite catered at DRA?
I mean, DRA is quite far from town..Does it affect your social life? I know it's a pointless question but I'm worried :s-smilie:

Did you request to share or a single? Trying to determine if there is a pattern (i.e. they do singles first, etc.) or if it is just random.
