Oxbridge term time is the same length as the university I go to. Oxbridge just want to do things which may make them appear to be more abnormal and elitist than other universities.

Oxbridge is full of the abnormal!

What paper do you work for out of interest?
This person is the cleverest among you.

Top marks.

edit to elaborate: someone with 2 posts in total has a thread started on an 'interesting' topic and is asking for stories. This is called lazy journalism and poor research.

Where did he say that he works for a paper?
You can guess the poster is a journalist of some sort... they stick out... they really do, especially this one. Must be a ****** amateur (or just really riding how easy it is to grab information from people who give a little too much trust)

Do you readers have any views on this
Yes its a stupid idea, it would be alot easier to go to the job centre and get money from them until you get a decent well paid job.
Its not hard people.
Thoe i understand if your doing it due to a drugs problem or a serious problem like that its easier said than done.

Are they really not? Why not?
And because we work far far more....
E.g. by half way through our first term I had written 6 times more essays than my best friend who's studying English @ another uni. I'm a biologist. Go figure
There just isn't the time to have a job unless you did no extra-curric and never went out so it's just easier for them to say no jobs without prior agreement (we're allowed to do some stuff like work in college bars)

Guys, come on. Be a bit more sensible!

You need to be more careful what you say, I've had 3 journalists PM me from the Observer, Telegraph and T2 on different things; from a comment I made on Drugs in boarding schools, one on drinking...etc. I think it's very, very poor that they come on a student website looking for opinions - pretty twisted, in some ways.

They condemn paedophiles 'grooming' children across the internet - what are they doing themselves?

In your next article, 'Cliff' - put that you went on an internet forum and then tricked minors into supplying you with information. Trust me, it won't be 'us' that looks bad!

Sorry to disappoint you but I am not, never have been, and do not intend ever to be a reporter.

By and large I appreciate the answers I have received and I am pleased to find that it seems as though relatively few students will be turning to prostitution to offset their debts.

I browsed the Oxbridge students 'escort' agency website to see how 'professional' it is. What shocked me was a fellow student room member was on there!

So out of interest then, who are you? Because I refuse to believe you're a student. And you called us 'readers'.

Is the only reason he does not want people to identify using names so he can use direct quotes?

I think this is a bluddy stupid thread if you ask me.

The purported e-mail address of the Oxbridge escort agency I got from the BBC website is now a dating agency site. Did they go bust?

Who gives a damn if it is for a paper?

I doubt many students actually need to sell themselves to fund their studies. If students do indeed sell themselves i dont see any problem with it; its their life and not mine.

I think you will find it is escorting as they want to be paid like £100 for going on a date!

I have the opposite infact. People pay me not to have sex with them, or take my clothes off. It's quite a money maker.

yes, this was in quite a few papers a while back, about students prostituting themselves etc.......

expecially oxbridge students... for the reasons said before... they made alot of money, and dint need loans etc, and were earning a hell of a lot whilst studying... and they were studying respected things like law.lol

once upon a time...

a lot has changed since they first started up... too much in fact...

the other thing is that foreign uni's have now excelled so much now with medicine for example having double the graduation time, difficulty etc, that english uni's are starting to look more like third world uni's.... at least according to an article that came up 6 months or so ago
