You could try crunches...they tone up the abs muscle underneath. However that will only show if you lose the fat that's hiding them. I have really hard stomach muscles, but with a layer of fat over the top you'd never tell! The main way to lose fat is to do regular CV exercise, particularly something concentrated in that area. Do you have a gym near you? The rowing machine may be good for that, as it's a CV exercise but will also tone your stomach. Maybe even try the exercise balls...you balance on the edge of one, feet apart, and get a friend to stand about 2 metres away and throw a ball just above your head. You roll back on the ball so you catch the ball. As you use your stomach muscles to pull yourself back up, throw the ball back. It's quite fun that one, me and my friends used to do it!!! :p:

Hope that helps!

'toning' is just adding muscle and losing fat. you cant spot reduce and just lose fat from your lower abs, you have to lose it all over your body. so cardiovascular exercise and leg raises to hit the low ab fibers to help build them up.

hey guys i was just wondering wots the best way to get rid of a bit of weight or tone up the area ryt under ur belly button..i think its still ur stomach?lol im quite average weight everywere else just i seem 2 put on weight really quick in that area.ne ideas...thanx!

Are you a woman?

If so that kind of pubic padding directly beneath your belly button. It's supposed to be there, don't obsess about it. On a healthy woman it should be about 1-2 cm thick. Afaik it's a protective padding for when/if you're pregnant. A certain softness there is attractive and desirable.

Ohhh I have this problem too!

I have lost a lot of weight on my stomach but this part wont slim down. Its like between my belly button and where the waistband of my jeans reach (hipster jeans). Whether its meant to be there or not, its such a nuisance :p:
^Ditto.

I have weight there that I CANNOT SHIFT and it's really hacking me off!

I guess it's supposed to be there but it looks really horrible on me:frown:

girls usually have some extra fat there, just like 'love handles'. its stubborn to get rid of it and you would have to lose fat from all over your body to get it to go

I have it, too. Its not really visible and you can feel the hard muscle underneath it, but there's about a 1 cm thick layer over the top which won't go. There's no fat on the rest of my stomach or ribs and whatever you get over that area is natural, to protect the reproductive organs.

There's no way its going away without a LOT of exercise.

If it's unsightly - cut down on sodium intake. That seems to work for some reason.

Like has been said, it's supposed to be there for your future unborn children. The only way to get rid of it is to reduce fat in general and hope that your body will stop holding onto it, which it probably will do if it feels like there is no choice but to give it up and burn it, say if you are getting rather skinny. I know of very few women who are an average size and weight and don't have a little something there. And don't think that celebrities don't have them: they do but have the benefit of teams to put makeup and lights on them and choose outfits that disguise them and airbrush photos to pretend they don't have them. At the end of the day, would you prefer to be normal and have a little bit of fat there or thin with nothing there?

It's not a problem..

If it's the latter. ie hard muscle down there just under your belly button. That is disgusting... It's manly or long-distance scrawny runner-ish.
Honestly if you have a good figure, why would you want to lose this? Do you want to look less attractive? For all intents and purposes, when it comes to body shape: fertility / reproductive viability = attractive.
