help me im getting braces in like next month and i dont want to look like a freak

You won't look like a freak...have you seen how many other people wear braces?!

I wore braces (train-tracks, is that what you're getting?) for just under a year, and I really liked them!!! You get to change the coloured bands everytime you go...I had pink and purple, then decided I needed to grow up and got silver ones :smile:

I loved having mine...I have no idea why! But when they got taken off I got given a retainer, but it didn't fit properly so I never wore it, and now my teeth look just like they did before!

I'm considering getting them again :rolleyes:

i used to have a brace, i had it from year 7 to beginning of year 11 as well, but now my teeth are fabulous!!! it's not that bad, people don't judge you for it so don't worry chick people won't think you are a freak!

there was one point where i had to have bloody elastic bands on mine though as well and that did annoy me!

I loved my braces and got really upset when they got taken off, don't worry, it'll take you a while to get used to them but when you do they'll be fine, plus you can have funky bands on them. If they rub at all ask for some wax!

How can you people like braces i dont mean to freak her out or anything but mine bloody hurt, i didn't look like a freak because near enough everyone in the year had them at the time, they are a pain in the arse but they don't look hideous and now my teeth are awesome.

I had braces for about a year and no one commented on them whatsoever.

They were slightly uncomfortable(not painful,just weird feeling)but that all pays off.I missed my braces when I first had them removed!

They hurt when they got put on...sort of ached and put loads of pressure on my teeth. But after that they were fine. The only time they hurt was when the dentist adjusted them each time I had a check up and when they were taken off it felt so wierd!!! Other than that I loved them! :smile:

I had braces from the age of 26 to 28, and actually missed them when they came off. :smile:

if the dentist is as stupid as mine was i can seee what you mean.
i had a brace but not train tracks and yes ok you cant snog a guy. (but who would snog you!!)
and anyway you need nice teeth as your strength

You will look like more of a freak if you don't have have the braces.

I had braces when I was 13 until I was 16, and at first I had the same fear as you. My teeth were all over the place (I used to suck my thumb a lot as a child :p:

) but now they are perfectly straight :biggrin:

If I hadn't had the brace, the shape of my face would have changed completely and I would actually have the worlds strangest chin.

I'm not going to lie, at times it hurts a lot and for the first couple of weeks you will probably feel quite self conscious... but after that, you won't even notice that you are wearing them, and even better, your friends won't notice either. In fact, the day after I had the braces removed, I was walking home with a friend and I told her "I had my braces removed yesterday", and she said "I didn't even know you had them in the first place!". So, don't worry about it... it really is worth it.

you will look like a freak. But its a lot better that you do this now, then when you are 30 and then it will really affect you. Just dont open mouth smile loads and people wont even notice/care after a while, time will fly by if u just try not to think everyone is staring at it :biggrin:

You know, the only people who actually really notice braces are those who've already had them - and obviously they're not gonna think you look like a freak. I had braces all through Year 10, and my best friend has them now, and hardly anyone notices except the people who have had/have/are going to have a brace. Don't worry about it.
