Calculate the work done by a system in which a reaction results in the formation of 1.0 mol CO2(g) at 25°C and 100 kPa. (Hint The increase in volume will be 25 dm³ under these conditions if the gas is treated as perfect: use the relations 1 dm³ = 10-3 m³ and 1 Pa m³ = 1 J.

I don't see where the book has got their answer from, obviously I making an error somewhere:

w = -pext * delta V
w = -100 x 103 Pa * 2.5 x 10-2
w = -2500 Pa m³
w = -2500 J
w = -2.5 kJ
