I would advise people not to dye it red and get it heart shaped for Valentine's. That is scary and unexpected. Not romantic.
*shudders* That would just creep me out!

I am not a guy, I am a girl who is wondering what the guy thought...
ah, I see...I bet he was over the moon! for evidence of this, watch the first episode of coupling.

Not at all. Coupling is ace.

And the Valentine's thing... very scary. *shudders*

Got past it though... just kind of ignored it.

so although i currently hav what wud be called a 'landing strip' (tidy, trimmed) guys'd prefer it 'all off'?

Cool. I'll do that, I just think it looks odd!

Alright enough, as long as she actually did have some originally. It'd be worse if she was, like, ten.

OMG lol...it actually happened to you?! I guess I'd just shut my eyes and carry on! Clearly not every surprise is a good one though. I can't quite imagine that situation..I might accidentally laugh my head off!

To anon..what you have to remember is there's a difference in perpective. You see it from an above sort of angle. Your guy will probably see it somewhat closer up!

If you're doing stuff to extremely intimate areas of your anatomy just because you think guys might like you better, you're doing it for the wrong reasons. Especially if you think it looks odd.

Expecting it not to be a mess, absolutely, go for it. But there are a worrying number of men who seem to expect nothing at all down there. That to me would be just too weird. So, to any man who thinks like that: Your girlfriend is not a porn star.
Or 8 years old. I'm glad someone agrees with me.

    Guys,

This might seem like a weird question, but if you were getting naked with a girl for the first time and you discovered she was completely hair free "down there", what would your reaction be? Would it be a good thing or a bad thing?

    Thanks.
    A good thing.

    I prefer a shaved snatch.

Do you shave your legs and armpits?

Nothing wrong with it if you don't, but I never understood it when people say that they keep their pubic hair because they're not eight... but then go and shave every other part of their body, when eight year olds don't have leg or armpit hair either.
I know the logic there isn't perfect, I don't get it entirely myself - but it's how I feel, nonetheless.

Armpit/leg hair would potentially be on show to everyone, I suppose (especially if you're swimming or it's summer or whatever) - and your armpits collect sweat so much worse if you haven't shaved. But your pubic region is only seen by a very select few, and provided it's kept tidy, there's no reason for it to be less hygienic than completely waxed.

Plus the thought is just a bit scary; bikini wax hurts enough as it is! And there's the delightful possibility you might react to the process and come up in a horrible red rash (as my armpits did when they got waxed once).

I had an experience where an ex decided to shave the area...it was ok the first day but then it was the shaving rash that lasted a week afterwards that was really horrific...and, as you can tell, it was pretty limiting on activity...

I couldn't get it all off. I fear the itching...

    Hmmm, interesting replies.

Basically, the situation is, sometimes I shave it all off just because I feel like it. It's just nice sometimes to have the area completely smooth. Usually when I'm with a guy I just shave the bikini line, or have a landing strip down the middle. The other day I shaved it all off and then the next night went further than I was intending to with a new guy. I didn't really plan to do more than kiss, but he was sleeping in my bed that night and it was kind of hard to resist. I'd only shaved the day before, so there wasn't really stubble yet or anything. I'm just wondering what he would have thought. I thought most guys liked there to be some hair there, instead of completely bald.

It's also very linked to sex (obviously), whereas your armpits aren't.

So a lot of people are uncomfortable with having all of the hair off there.

    --------------

By the way, I'm not having a go at people who choose to do that. But now that it seems to be increasingly expected of women to wax all of the hair off, or almost all of it.

I agree with the 8 year-old thing, even tho I cannot explain why either and yes, I do shave my legs and arm pits I do see why it might be nicer for the guy when it's completely smooth down there and I totally get the "no hair in the mouth"-comment made ealier But yet, I'd always keep a bit of hair. Like someone said before, a trimmed "landing strip" is what I'd go for. I wouldn't like a guy to be completely shaved either ...

Well, there's still stubble when you only shave part of it off I find shaving annoying anyway, cos you have to do it like every 2nd day  But I've never dared to try waxing

I would love to try waxing (legs, underarms, bikini-line, wherever) but can't bring myself to let the hair get long enough in the first place!
