I'm doing the exam - I can't say I'm looking forwards to it.

I've done little else but History revision for the past week or so, so I guess I'm just hoping for the topics I know most about to come up.

I've been driving myself crazy trying to learn all of the Indian wars...

I get mixed up between Little Big Horn, Red Cloud's War and about 3 others, so I'm hoping the Indian wars are on an optional question D:

Oh...

My strongest areas are probably Cowboys and the development of the plains/early settlers.

Those two topics seem a lot easier to understand, at least to me.

what i would want is:
1) An easy source question
2) Importance of say General Custer in the Sioux Campaign.
3/4) Something about the journey west and its difficulties
5/6) A 9 Mark question followed by Development of Plains/ Reservations

Charles Goodnight set up the Goodnight-Loving cattle trail from Texas, I think it was, with Oliver Loving. Before this, he was a rancher.

There was a drought in I think it was 86 that killed off much of the cattle on the plains; this left ranchers with much smaller herds, so fenced in, closed range ranches made it easier to deal with them,

and then a storm in 87 which made things worse

I'm hoping the settlers on the Plains and the Mormons come up, they're my strongest areas, oh and the Railways. Please Lord, let there be a question on the importance of the Railways

I have learnt things such as the mormons
the tcr build date.. 1869 at Utah
The wars dates and basic events.
Importance of Buffalo/Horses/Land/Spirits (Religion) to the Indians
Circle of Violence for the Wars
The treaties and how they were broken
All about the gold rushes (in particular the 1849 California Gold Rush/ "Gold Fever")
Cattle drives - Civil War
Cow towns, Cowboys and violence in the cowtowns
Vigilante groups - lynching, no justice in West etc. no jails so just hung
Crimes comitted in American West such as Horse Rustling, Claim Jumping (In mining areas), Robbery etc.
Services in the Mining areas - Saloons, Prostitution
The journey West - Push, Pull and Enabling Factors

Yeah pretty much this.. have i missed anything guys

Good motto!
Yeah, I've learnt all the basis of the things you've listed. In the edexcel revision books there seems to be so much detail like specific dates, statistics and names, that's what's stressing me :/
