What is back up plan if you fail to meet your offers?

I've always fancied becoming a pimp, so I'll probably do that.

Plan B is reinforcing plan A.
I'll cry for the rest of my life if i dont get in for 2012
Become a hobo! Nothing beats the hobo life. (Stabbing folks with my hobo knife~)

But seriously, either hunt for something on clearing or re-apply, and try to get a job for next year. :/ Being a hobo sounds more fun though.
If I don't get into my first, I don't think I'm going to go to Uni.

So I'll do a gap year or two (some of the awesome expeditions to places like the Arctic) and then go into the Navy (currently going through the process) instead of going to Uni first.

Well, either that or become a hobo...

True, but when you get rejected for interviews because you don't have a degree, you'll be mad, bro.

Working your way up is a great idea, but you should combine it with part-time study.

There's a man lives just up the road from me. He started off working in the mines at 15, and now his salary is well over a million a year working for an American energy company. He did his A-Levels at night school and his degrees (he has a couple) part-time. A real example of how far hard work can get you!

But not everyone is suited to studying a degree. Not everyone wants to or can study for a degree, so what about those people?

Also in some careers it's about work experience, who you know and networking (links to other people...)

Hopefully I can find a job. I'd probably do an OU course rather than pay 9k a year. I wouldn't go in clearing unless there was a chance of getting in somewhere good.

Yeah I'd rather do an OU course than pay £9000, but the things is, I really really need to move out...

Of course, and I'm not denying that, but a degree opens doors, that's a given.

I'm not saying people who don't go to university don't get good jobs, but I'd certainly say that the average graduate has an easier time getting a 'good' job than the average non-graduate.

Of course some graduates do worse than some non-graduates, and some non-graduates do better than some graduates, particularly if they have contacts and that. You certainly see that in the generation older than ours (40+) that a degree is much less necessary, and that they got jobs without a degree that nowadays require a degree.
Phone up uni beg for them to give me place. If not reapply for accounting and finance which is much less competitive and maybe resit an exam depending on how bad i did in it.

retake the exams I didn't get the grade in and reapply for next year. My course is free and has no tuition fees so doesn't affect me

Lucky you! What course are you doing?
I was so confident of reaching my required grades before the exams, now I'm worried I got too complacent and ballsed up. If I also missed my insurance it'd mean I REALLY had.

Depending on what I actually got, maybe have a look through clearing, but probably take a third year at college, or just decide to up and leave and go travelling, cos I really don't fancy staying in my home town for another year.

Cry for a good few hours (yes I will actually break down like a girl) beg the universities to let me study there and if that doesn't work then I'm going into the porn industry under the guise Big Daddy S.

That's like me, though I love London, my main problem is that I really need to move out of home, and I really couldn't bear the thought of staying another year at home (the thought makes me shudder so much, I think I'd rather die). I was thinking of getting a job and working loads and loads of hours alongside maybe going back to school so that I can keep myself away from home for most of the time, but to be honest I don't know what I'd do.

I'd probably try clearing first and try to get into my firm/insurance through clearing.
Call and beg and if they say no resit and reapply. Or go the Open University route. But in reality I'll probably cry for weeks and then get all self destructive. And then resit and reapply.
I want to cry at the thought of staying home for another year. I've already had to take an unexpected 'gap year' before finishing my A2s. I need to GTF away!

Travel. It sucks that there are hardly any jobs around but I'd do my best to get one (NO WAY am I just dossing) and then I'd save up some money and gooooo. I don't want to stay at home because I'd hate watching my friends all move on whilst I'm left behind.

I'm sure I've failed anyway, so I'm going to research this stuff properly in the summer (still one exam left that I'm going to try my best in!)

A degree in dental therapy, it's funded by the NHS and they give a bursary too. Very lucky! What are you doing?
