Why is UCAS taking so long to process my application?

I applied at 7:50 pm on the 15th, when I log into the application page, i get:

19:50 15 Dec 2005 Your application has been sent to UCAS and will be processed shortly
(normally within 24 hours). After it has been processed you will be able to see your
application number and password for ucastrack (the UCAS Applicant Enquiry Service).

I understand that they're on some sort of break now, but seriously, whats the deal? Do international applications take a lot longer to process? Has anyone else had the same problem?

Has anyone who applied after the 15th gotten their tracking number?

Thanks a lot.

You've got to take into account that it takes a while for regular post to arrive in the US. It's only been 10 days. It took almost 3 and a half weeks for the letter to arrive in California

I thought that I would be able to get the UCAStrack password by logging into my apply page? No?

But yeah, if I'm waiting for something in the mail, it definately wouldnt have already come and I wouldnt be worried at all. I just thought that the info was available more or less immidiately on the internet? Maybe my impression was wrong?

I think when I log into apply it still says mine is being processed and everything. But I received my letter and everything ages ago and have had 4 offers since. Your track user number will be on the UCAS welcome letter if you've had it yet, and the password is the same as the one you used for apply.

the apply screen never changes after the first time you log after having sent the applications

It does now! But it won't change for a while yet.

My UCAS form was sent on the 14th and I got the welcome letter on the 20th. Obviously it'll take longer to get to America.

My Track number was the same as the application number (but without the hyphens), and the username and password were the same as on the apply bit. So you could try logging on to Track to see whether it's been sorted.

If that doesn't work, you'll just have to wait. You won't be getting any offers over this holiday period anyway so it shouldn't be a problem.
dude you're gona have to wait a bit longer cuz ucas is shut as of 23rd december, and opens on the 2nd of jan.

The screen will read that it is still be processed forever..and ever..and ever..and ever..

Just wait for the Welcome Letter, that will contain everything you need to know.

your application is the same with your track number
why is my application no 10 characters, but track no seems only 9 character?
which one should be delete?
Your app number should be something like this 12-345678-9, my track number was then the same but without the hyphens.

is application number presonal ID number?
my number is 123-456-7890
confused~~~

No personal ID number isn't your track number and you really shouldn't be making it public so you should delete it from your post. Track numbers start 06*****5 06 is obviously the year in which your applying and I think the last number is a check. So I think I'm right in saying everyone's is 5?

Apply does change eventually to give your applicatio number, mine didn't change for weeks but I just logged in and noticed that it has changed to tell me it. But again its the holidays so no-one is at ucas and even though you applied on the 15th, ucas really aren't that efficient plus it was nearly the holidays so they would've been merry and therefore even less efficient! So they probably haven't got around to processing yours yet. Mine was sent on the 7th October, processed on the 11th October and I got a letter on the 14th October, which was dated the 12th October.

yeah, I'm still waiting for my welcome letter. I sent off my application the 15th, but I figure its because Im in the US. However, I need that application number if i'm going to be able to send this vital additional information to the LSE.

very curious indeed. maybe the check digit changes?
No, the last digit of my app number is 8. It was 4 for me last year if that helps.

p.s She made up her personal ID, so no worries there.

Sorry for reviving this antiquated post but I really need some advice. You see I need to update my LNAT profile and put the application number in so that they'll know where to send my score to. Is mail their only way to send me the welcome letter / application number (cuz shoot i've chosen not to receive information by post) or are they going to do it through email too?
