Illogical...

Now, this health and relationships forum is excellent for a couple of reasons. Firstly, it provides support to others in distress. Secondly, this forum gives a media for - more or less - the same age category to discuss intimate issues (which would otherwise be discussed with older professionals; daunting, I know).

However, the number of posts relating to "Hi, I'm X, does Y like me? I think B fancies me, and I'm really scared that A might be pulling Y, although A's taking an interest in Z...but how do I know?!" are ridiculous. They are illogical in nature, partly because the only reason they post is to hear what they want to hear: "aaah, Y loves you, don't worry". Whichever piece of advice person X is given, the person in question always has his/her own predispositions of what s/he would like to do. In that respect, the advice of the good citizens of TSR is virtually obsolete.

The other reason why these posts really annoy me is that the posts are in such a way, that the answer is *clear* to any idiot. "Person Y said that she liked this about me, and she spends alot of time with me, and I like her, but what should I do?!". This almost Stalinist approach of wanting to hear only what the OP wants to hear demeans the whole concept of this forum!

The final reason, is that we cannot account for the second party in the story. We do not know about his/her character, interests - in fact, we hardly know anything about the OP! The OP is the only expert when it comes to knowing whether a male or female is worthy of his/her companionship, and I can only conclude that these threads are for an ego massage.

I've presented my argument, I'd just like to know the views of others, and whether they disagree or not.

Thank you
I agree that people have an answer already in mind. Yes it possibly is illogical; however, i think people what it confirmed by others with experience which doesn't seem so illogical to me. It seems almost part of human nature to have others support your actions.

how do you have citizens of TSR - also what the hell is an OP and finally i agree about these threads purely being made to hear the deired answer but why does that bother you - some people need reassurance - if you have a problem just ignore them - there are other things in this forum

Then how about we create 2 sticky topics; "Does HE like me?" and "Does SHE like me?"
for which people to post in.

The point I was getting at was that those types of threads are rather dictatorial: "you say what I want, or else I will disregard your opinion".

Elaborate on "Get over yourself mate". Are you implying I was being pretentious?
