Need to gain more weight

Hi, I just want some suggestions (not protein shakes) to help someone I know to gain weight. She eats the normal amount of food each day, but does anybody know what food or diets (ironically) to recommend for her to put on a little more fat?

Anyone else have this problem?

Is it true that eating more in the morning helps you gain weight? Any other help or advice is welcomed, thank you.

Eat about 2500-3000 calories a day but try to eat quite clean and eat plenty of fruit. To gain weight naturally you have to eat more than you would normally do. I would suggest eating every 3 hours if possible. Like some people just have their dinner at say 12 and tea at 6 and thats a long time without food so have a sandwich with fruit etc in between. Make a diet and stick to it for a couple of weeks and see if you gain, if you dont then eat more as depending on your lifestyle you may be burning off many of the calories in which case you need to consume more.

:hello: I'm like this, i eat loads but still remain underweight. It's really annoying because people think i have an eating disorder and talk to guidance teachers or whoever about me, and then I have to explain to them that i'm not anorexic... and it just gets annoying.

I do a lot of exercise, and have a fast metabolism and I rarely feel hungry.

So, i just eat lots of carbs (i'm basically the antithesis of the atkins), and eat at least 3 meals a day even if i don't feel hungry.

Cool, what sort of food is involved in the "antithesis of the atkins"?

she just needs to eat more calorie rich foods more often. so snacking inbetween meals with things like nuts, chocolate, etc would help boost her calories. also if she ate a small meal before she goes to bed it would help because she wont be doing anything to use up the calories while sleeping so they will be stored.

It all depends on metabolism. I live on bread and chocolate day in day out.. and im still underweight!

yeah, I'm not particularly skinny, its just however much I eat I can't put on weight, and I think its genetic as my father has this as well.

I wouldn't say its a problem, well at least its not a problem for me; its just colder for me in the winter period.

No. I wish I had that problem.

Eating a variety of food won’t help much if you a very high metabolism. I think being skinny is better, cause after a couple of years losing weight or being fit becomes a problem

I don't understand why people say it's better to be thin though, if we're talking about underweight...

Sorry, she is underweight, and it's a problem for her. I'm trying to see if anyone else is in the situation or knows someone who is and what could be done about it.

i think by no protein shakes she meant no supplements.

lol, didn't read that, thought it was just another one of those "I can't put on weight I'll do anything" threads. My only suggestion then is to eat, lots.

She will put on weight as she gets older, tempting fate doesnt sound like the best course of action. Perhaps some excercise will help her bulk up a bit.

or perhaps more exercise will just burn off more calories making it even harder for her to put on weight. i dont think shes aiming to bulk up muscle wise, and even if she wanted to she would find it extremely difficult. she needs to eat alot more than usual and keep exercise to a minimum.

I thought if she exercised it would make her body more efficient at intaking calories, therefore she would become bigger if it was mixed with eating more food.

Actually exercise did make me gain weight. I did hardcore dance for 6 months and not only did my leg muscles became as hard as a giraffe's phallus when it's erected, I gained weight surprisingly. I stopped exercising and soon lost the 5 pounds I had gained.

Where do you get this **** from? To be frank, what you've just written is 100% factually incorrect, not an ounce of truth in it.

Increased appetite, you can't gain *real* weight(as in muscle/fat) without eating more, it is physically impossible.
