That would be a bitch of a commute for 9am lectures.

Plus you'd miss out on all the usual 'fresher' stuff.
I know someone who commutes from Loughborough and seems to be finding it ok.

I'm a first year Law student at Nottingham and I commute every day. There is also another guy on my course who does the same. In fact there are loads of local students who do this. I have to admit that 9am lectures are hard cos I have to get up early to make it, but home comforts make up for this! Don't worry about Freshers' Week - believe me you will NOT miss out! There is a society which looks after regional students, organise Freshers' Week activities, organise termtime events etc. If you want to check out their website its www.uonrsa.com

I was really worried about commuting to Nottingham, but it has worked out really well - the transport network to the Uni is really good, so getting up there on time is not a problem. Personally speaking I made the right decision - I didn't really want to leave home or get loads of debt so commuting was a good compromise. And don't worry about missing out on student life - you can always crash on a mate's floor after nights out!

Hope this helps!

I think that first year I would stay on campus, then second year and maybe third year I'd live at home and commute, so I could have home comforts....

I may have to commute for the rest of this year from Stoke-on-Trent  Which is 1:21 by train.

Be warned though - after moving out and having your own space it's very hard to move back into the family home...i've been going crazy just over christmas, so used to cooking for myself and keeping my own timetable, going back to the parents' routine is tricky!

I've got a mate who travels from Derby everyday, not sure how great that distance is in comparison to you but yeah, he seems perfectly happy commuting!
