Living at home at Warwick from year one?

After looking for a while, I have found no reference to living at home on the Warwick website unlike other university sites. Is living at home an "acceptable" thing to do in the eyes of the university, or do they insist you live on campus for the first year?

Thank you for your reply. I live in nearby Kenilworth and so if I can live at home, it will cut costs immensely.

Well, what is there to say about it? Any particular questions? I know people who have lived at home during uni, but none who did it in their first year.

Yeah, you live damn close enough there's no point in bothering :p:. Just cycle in/bus on the 12 if you want.

It's easy to latch onto a group in a particular halls of residence and use it as your social base on campus (either meet them during arrivals weekend or through your course). Join some socs or sports clubs if you want to bolster this :h: Mixed netball are particularly welcoming if you are into the stuff we do :yy:

I live in Kenilworth and going to Warwick this year as well but after spending my gap year visiting friends I decided that living in halls would be so much more fun. I know plenty of people at different unis who live at home so I doubt it would be a problem, but I reckon halls would be way more fun.

Thank you all for your replies.

@TheTallOne: Thanks for bringing up clubs and socs- had completely forgotten about them! Will definitely look into what is going on at Warwick aside from the courses...

@Pebbles: I agree with you- I'm sure it would be fun but I'm really conscious of the cost. I've got the summer to mull it over so hopefully I'll have come to a decision by September.

I'd suggest you at least apply for accommodation before the priority deadline at the end of this month. After the deadline, you will be allocated after everyone coming here through firm/insurance who applied 'on time' (and the chances of getting a place on campus will be significantly less).

There's nothing to lose by applying now, you can always reject on campus accommodation when they send you your offer in September.
Interestingly enough, in my first year I had two friends on my course who lived in Kenilworth - one decided to move into halls on campus, and the other stayed in Kenilworth and just got the bus in.

I honestly think it makes absolutely no difference. If you're a social person and want to socialise or make the most of opportunities on campus - you will do whether you live there or not.

I had moved out of my parents and lived with my bf before I came to Uni - and I thought I'd give halls a chance in first year, but now carry on living with my boyfriend (we live about 30 miles away from Campus so MUCH further away then Kenilworth) and I can honestly say that I have been more social/taken up more opportunities and am 500% happier living at home with my boyfriend than on campus. BUT, you may be completely different!

Life is what you make it!

Not sure I made it clear, I'm currently in year 12 and so I'm yet to even apply for Warwick yet. I just wanted to ask and see what people think before I apply. :^_^:
