Feeling Ugly

Does anyone (and I'm aiming this at girls) feel sometimes that they are really ugly?
I feel like this at the moment. I go through stages where for some months I feel that I generally look OK, then I go through a patch where I feel really ugly - therefore I start buying new make-up and everything! It sounds really stupid but I'm interested to know if any other girls ever feel like this.

Oh yes all the time, its either feeling ugly or feeling sexy.
I just eat chocolate, and/or have a relaxin bath.

Reply 3

Yes, frequently. It really sucks. But yeah, chocolate and a bath helps.

I think most people feel ugly sometimes..... no one should feel ugly at all because no one is - they may not have the best appearance but they have beautiful personalities and other qualities which are beautiful

have a day just to yourself pampering and don't have a care in the world, I believe that firstly you have to be able to love yourself to appriciate your finer qualities - but just relax with mates on a girly night in and just be yourself theres no need for make up, make up is only a shield into the big bad world and im sure your more beautiful without it xoxo

Yes. Used to be more frequent when I was a bit younger though. As I've gone into sixth form, I've felt a lot more confident, which has led to me generally feeling happier, and better about myself.

Hmm...for me I feel ugly when I get spots. It's rare that I do have outbreaks and when I do it's like, 3 spots, but I still go all "EEEK I HATE MYSELF". It's ridiculous but I still do it...

When I get bloated around "lady time", I also start felling fat and gross, lol. And I'm neither

yeah i feel like that most of the time, but i've learnt not to care, and i don't bother with make- up. I think it's better to concentrate on improving/ developing your frame of mind to a state where what you can't change does not affect your feelings than trying to cover up what you think are not perfect.

I've gone past that stage and like the way I look because everyone has different opinions on what "ugly" and "pretty" are, so you cannot please everyone, and I don't think I'm ugly anymore simply because I've learnt to like the way I look.
As long as you have other things you're good at or personal qualities, you're going to be beautiful in your own way.

I've felt like this on numerous occasions. Last week I felt that I really looked good; went back to school for a visit and got complimented by loads of people that I was looking terrific/really chilled (or to quote someone there - 'gorgous' LOL...Ahem.) Anyway, this week I've been feeling pretty down, broke out in spots and was quite sick, so I have been feeling pretty terrible. I wish my response was to just by makeup...I tend to eat like mad when I'm feeling like this, which doesn't help the situation.

Thanks for all the sweet replies - its comforting to know I'm not the only one who feels like it.

all the time. And feeling fat too.

I've always felt ugly. Even when I was little (mainly because other people told me I was, meh). Trust me, you're not as unattractive as me.

Reply 14

Yup, me too. Whether you can carry it off without having to throw yourself a pity party is a matter of confidence in yourself as a person outweighing that of your physical looks. I frequently prefer the pity party, but if you can get out there warts and all, it's good in the long run for your self esteem.

I always feel like it

Reply 16

Everyone does.

Luckily my confident times far outweigh my low ones

Why restricted to girls?

Why restricted to girls?

Cause girls in general care more about what they look like - they wear makeup, do their hair, do false nails etc etc. Girls compete with each other to look the best.

Blokes have crises of confidence about their looks too.

And perhaps theirs are made worse by the fact that they're expected by society to not have any hang ups about looks..
